An eater of the living resembles a blood-red pterodactyl with a bony crest. It generally is 5 feet high with a wingspan of 12 feet, and weighs around 60 pounds. They are used as steeds by dretches and other small demons and devils.

COMBAT
An eater of the living swoops into battle after laying an exploding egg.
Exploding Egg (Su): Once per day, an eater of the living can drop an egg while in flight as a standard action. This requires a ranged touch attack roll; on a successful hit, the egg deals 1d8 points of fire damage. Creatures killed by an exploding egg release one hatchling eater of the living 1d4 days later (1 HD, Str 9, Dex 8, Con 10, Int 1, Wis 10, Cha 8), which grows to full size in 2d6 weeks. Raising, resurrection, or the casting of a bless or protection from evil on the corpse prevents this hatching.

A doomberry is a small shrub, 2 feet tall, 3 feet wide, and weighing 15 pounds, that grows in dark and evil planes. The dark red berries between its pitch-black leaves carry a powerful acid.

COMBAT
A doomberry, being immobile, does not enter combat, but can defend itself if attacked with its berries.
Berries (Su): A doomberry can launch one berry per round to a range of 10’ (no range increment) as a ranged attack. On a successful hit, the berry deals 1d2 points of acid damage. However, someone armored in plate, half-plate, or full plate is unaffected. If a doomberry’s berries are eaten, each berry deals maximum damage (2 hit points of acid damage).
