Origin of greek titan Cronus (Kronos, Cronos, etc)

We were in the process of converting this great big baddie, and wondering what his aspects are when the idea of “time”-related powers came up. I was wondering if the resemblance between the name Cronus and the prefix “Chrono” was more than superficial, or if a scholar more versed in Greek than I am could provide some insight.

If I recall correctly, Cronos (the lord of the titans, ate his children) was confused by the Romans for Chronos, one of their own (time related) deities. Of course, this could be completely wrong, and I'm just mythologically addled.

Demiurge out.

There's plenty online regarding his background.

We use him in our Conan campaign to round out the Kothian pantheon (actually we used him as a head, as he's so much older than the rest of the gods).
