New Magic Item Cost

Hello,

Could someone please evaluate the cost of the following magic item:

A magic shirt that has the following functions:

- Mass Heal 3 times per day (caster level 25) as a free action
- Restoration 3 times per day (caster level 7) as a free action
- Dispel Magic Greater 3 times per day (Caster level 20) as a free action
- Divine Favor 9 times per day (caster level 18) as a free action

Don't worry about big numbers, it's for an epic game.

Taking them as command-word activated first (Spell lvl x caster lvl x 1800 x number of charges per day/5):

- Mass Heal 3 times per day (caster level 25) as a free action

= 9 x 25 x 1800 x 3/5 = 243,000 gp

- Restoration 3 times per day (caster level 7) as a free action

= 4 x 7 x 1800 x 3/5 (+5000 gp material cost) = 30,240 gp

- Dispel Magic Greater 3 times per day (Caster level 20) as a free action

= 3 x 20 x 1800 x 3/5 = 64,800 gp

- Divine Favor 9 times per day (caster level 18) as a free action

= 1 x 18 x 1800 x 9/5 = 58,320 gp

Since it's all in one worn item, multiply the lesser costs by 1.5 each, giving:

243,000 + ((30,240 + 64,800 + 58,320) x 1.5) = 243,000 + 230,040

For a grand total of 473,040 gp.

Now that's if each power is command-word activated. For free actions I'd at least double the price.
 


Hmm, what if you apply Quicken Spell as a modifier on the spell level. I wonder how that comes out.

Mass Heal
13 x 25 x 1800 x 3/5 = 351,000

Restoration
8 x 7 x 1800 x 3/5 = 60,480 x 1.5 = 90,720

Dispel Magic, Greater
7 x 20 x 1800 x 3/5 = 151,200 x 1.5 = 226,800

Divine Favor
5 x 18 x 1800 x 3/5 = 97,200 x 1.5 = 145,800

Total = 814,320

Exclusive of material components and other costs.

I would still restrict this item to one spell/rd as a free action. You couldn't blow all the daily charges as Free Actions in one round.

Does that look closer?

It is indeed the free action thing that I can't figure out.

Why not just leave it as command-word activated? If you do want to stick with the free action, I'd price it at a neat 1,000,000 gp (a little over double the price) and keep it at the usual limit of one quickened spell per round.

Of course I intended only one use of the shirt per round.

Will command-word activated still leave it as a free action ?

If so, that sounds good.

What do the other guys think ?

No, command word is a standard action. For a free action, you'd need to re-calculate the cost using the Quickened version of each spell, as has already been done a few posts up. :)

BardStephenFox, I think I'll use you version for now.

I'll call it Holy Vestment of [insert deity name]. I'll also change the number of Mass Heal's per day to 5, and reduce the extra 48,320 g.p. by making it a Cleric of specified deity only item, at a nice and round 1,000,000 g.p.:

This religious shirt is deep green and adorned with gold embroidery of Farlanghn's holy markings. It's magic can only be activated by a cleric of Farlanghn. Once per round, it allows the wearer to activate the following spells as a free action:

- Mass Heal 5 times per day (caster level 25)
- Restoration 3 times per day (caster level 7)
- Dispel Magic Greater 3 times per day (Caster level 20)
- Divine Favor 9 times per day (caster level 18)

Other Holy and Unholy Vestments are known to exist for clerics of different gods.

Strong conjuration; CL 25th; Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Craft Epic Wondrous Item, Quicken Spell, Mass heal, Restoration, Greater dispel magic, Divine Favor. Cost: 1,000,000 g.p.

How much more would it cost to have the Divine Favor (caster level 18) be always active instead of 9 times per day ?

One thing to note is that restoration cannot be quickened. Allowing it as a free action on an item should probably be priced as if it were quickened, and then doubled.
