Feng Shui: The Dragons Reborn OOC (Full)

John E Smoke

First Post
Well, I don't know if anybody out there wants to play a bit of Feng Shui, but I know I sure feel like running it, so maybe some of you are in luck. I'm looking to start up a game set in the contemporary juncture (for now, at least) in Hong Kong.

For anybody unfamiliar with Feng Shui but still interested, you can find the official site here. Feng Shui is a Hong Kong action rpg, with players taking the roles of the kinds of badasses that take out nameless hordes with barely a scratch. Think The Killer meets Drunken Master meets Chinese Ghost Story. The system is very simple, and in fact the rules reference available at the site has almost all the information vital to play. (Character generation is likewise quite simple, you pick an archetype like Killer, Maverick Cop, or Old Master, and make a few adjustments from there, and you're ready to go - if you don't have the game, I'll be more than willing to walk you through the process.)

So if you're interested, here's some guidelines for characters: Starting characters from the contemporary juncture with no knowledge of the Secret War. The Transformed Animal archetype is allowed, but I'll only take one, and on the condition they have little or no knowledge of the Ascended.

So, if like me, you're itching to kick some ass, feel free to speak up!

Sounds like a lot of fun; unfortunately, I don't have the books. If the Transformed Animal isn't any harder to play than the others, a transformed fox would be right up my alley, but it might be better to leave that to someone more familiar with the game mechanics. If so, the Old Master also appeals.

I am interested, I like Feng Shui. I will see what I want to play when I will have the book on hand, that mean tommorow.

Alright folks, I'm looking forward to seeing your characters. Just in case you're curious or want to use something from one of the supplements, in addition to the main book I've got Golden Comeback, Elevator to the Netherworld, Seal of the Wheel, Seed of the New Flesh, and Thorns of the Lotus (Daedelus edition). I'll probably be picking up some of the more recent books soon.

Paxus, a transformed fox will be fine, but since you don't have any of the books let me give you a list of the available archetypes (they're generally self-explanatory, if any sounds interesting, I'll gladly give a detailed description):

Big Bruiser, Everyman Hero, Ex-Special Forces, Gambler, Journalist, Karate Cop, Killer, Magic Cop, Martial Artist, Medic, Masked Avenger, Maverick Cop, Ninja, Old Master, Private Investigator, Scrappy Kid, Spy, Techie, Thief, Transformed Animal

Anybody with the supplements can use an archetype from them, so long as it's contemporary.

I think I'll stay with the Transformed Animal; it's more unique to the setting.

I'll be happy to work a character up. I'm at work ATM and will have to work him up when I get home. I've actually been working with Feng Shui recently. Trying to work up a modern day League of Extraordinary Gentleman adventure for convention style play.

I'll probably go for an Everyday Hero or a Shooter of some sort.

I love Feng Shui with a white-hot burning flame of Feng Shui-loving. So I'm interested in playing it, yes.

If it's alright, I'll take a day to think of a character, Melodramatic Hook, and all that jazz. I've owned most of the books at one point or another, but currently only have the core rulebook and Thorns.

I'm not sure on Type - they're all so cool! It's just a pity Criminal Mastermind is 2056 only. ;)

ok so I'm doing a bit of recicling now. I'm rather sick of seeing all my unused chars since the games died down so short after opening. This one has only seen one page of posts and I remember really wanting to play that bad cliche and so I hope Tatjana can get a second chance. The game I created her for moved from slugishly to total silence before she ever had the chance to say two words.

Tatjana Krucenko
EX-Special Forces

"You have to go with the times." At least they say that. And if you are working for the special forces in Russia that goes double once the Mafia starts to call the shots. But if you are one of the few souls left that still believe in the ideals since before the breakdown of the soviet union like Tatjana then you don't easily accept to work for criminals. Of course she didn't believe the communists where perfect either but like all good citizens she thought they would find the right way eventually. Now the problem is that if you know a lot about the people in power but refuse to work for them they sometimes try to get rid of you. Again like in the case of Tatjana.
As an ex soviet agent Tatjana had nowhere to go after the fall of the Iron Curtain and since she tried to prevent some of the criminals who now rule big sections of the military from getting there shortly after the breakdown she has too many enemies to stay at home. By now she has given up the fight since the notion that the soviet union might rise again started to sound ridiculous even to her a few years back. She has been on the run for a while now, working as a mercenary therever the payment was good. Recently she decided that she doesn't want or need any of this live any longer and called in the last few favours people owed her to get a new identity. Her chinese contacts got her a new life in Honk Kong. Now she lives a simple live and jobs as a bartender in the evenings. As far as she is concerned it doesn't matter that she lost the well-paid lifestyle she had before as long as she can have some peace for now. She'd rather never touch a gun again but like all the old veterans she has kept them just in case... .
Despite the fact that she is well over 40 Tatjana looks like 20 at most since she had a complete body surgery then her old contacts gave her a new life.

Radiant: Your character looks good, and in fact already gives me a couple of ideas for some fun things to throw in. I've only got one issue with your character, your martial arts AV should be 10, not 13 (Martial Arts is =10 for Ex-Special Forces).

Paxus: I'm going to email you later on tonight with the preliminary details of your character (Your archetype's stats, modified with the Fox package, your free skills, some questions about your animal shticks, and other concerns for character creation.)

tsadkiel: Yeah, next chance I get to play Feng Shui rather than run it, I might have to test drive a Criminal Mastermind myself. In any case, welcome aboard.

Corinth: Sounds good to me.

Assuming Velmont is still in, that gives us five people, and I know somebody else who's interested in joining, which gives us six people. Depending on how long it takes us to get all the characters done (but hey, it's Feng Shui, so it can't be that long), we should be good to go soon.
