I am not wild about a class ability that requires Action Points to activate, you will only be able to use it a few times per level... and it's not that powerful an ability.

Interesting, but I'd have to see the action point mechanics to judge. I used a hero point mechanic in my last campaign, but those were rare/special events -- I wouldn't want to base character class abilities on them.

Edit: I hope that isn't indicative of the rest of the setting mechanics. Action points aren't a core mechanic; what if you don't want to use them, but like the rest of the setting? How many mechanics will you have to change or gut to remove action points, with what resulting impact on play balance? I'd much prefer non-core mechanics to be modular, so that removing one doesn't require removing a bunch of other elements. It's easy to excise a feat, spell, or class; much more work to eliminate a mechanics that's interwoven into things.

Sure, it can be done -- you can remove AoO's from the core game, but that requires changing feats, and combat mechanics, and ... but at least removing AoOs doesn't require rebalancing character classes.

Edit 2: Just took a look at the d20 Action Point system. Assuming the mechanic is the same for Eberron, it's probably OK in play, but I think the x/level point system is too clunky to keep up with over multiple game sessions. I'd prefer something more modular for D&D, frankly.

Apparently this class gets more action points then any other. Its designed around using them, and someone roleplaying this class should be doing heroic things constantly to earn the points.

Is he automatically proficient with a whip? :D

I think as a PRC its pretty weak, seems very light on "bonus" and lacking much of anything id consider relevent to an explorer
