Silverthorne Presents:
The Great Creature Challenge!

Do you like creating new and unnerving creatures for your PCs to fight? Do you own the Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition™? Have you ever wanted to share your twisted and frightening creations with the world? If you answered "yes" to these questions, you need to take part in The Great Creature Challenge! The Great Creature Challenge is Silverthorne Games' first-ever monster-design contest based on our best-selling and critically-acclaimed Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition™!

Here's how it works (in a nutshell):
1. Take a monster from an Open Game Content (OGC) source, such as the SRD 3.5, etc. This can be any creature you like, then...
2. Apply a template (or more) from the Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition™ to said creature. Again, imagination and utility are the keys!
3. Name said creature and provide pertinent details about it, such as its habitat, combat strategy, general appearance, etc., along with any rules-specific information (new spells, feats, pc race stats, and so forth).
4. Submit said creature to Silverthorne Games for consideration in The Great Creature Challenge.
5. Repeat as often as desired before the February 20, 2004, deadline!

Sounds cool, but what's in it for me?
Beyond the world-wide fame and notariety* that having your work in a published d20 gaming supplement can provide you (not to mention game night bragging rights), Silverthorne Games is awarding prizes to the top thirteen entries through Amazon.com!

First Place (1): $50.00 gift certificate.
Second Place (2): $25.00 gift certificate.
Third Place (10): $10.00 gift certificate.

In addition to these prizes, all winning entries will earn you a "Contributing Author" credit in the work with your name in a nice, readable font, as well as props in the Section 15 of the product's Open Game License (OGL) - so you can take it with you!

Hey! Count me in! What do I do now?
Want to know all the juicy details on how to participate? All entries must be submitted by February 20, 2004! Winners will be notified by March 1, 2004, via email! Prizes will be awarded by March 15, 2004!

The complete contest rules can be downloaded here.

Best of Luck!
*Fame and notariety are relative concepts. Remember: One man's fame is another's obscurity. Rather than lavish, red-carpet treatment at GenCon™ this year, it might be more reasonable to expect the following: People might read your entry and think it's cool. DMs might even throw your creation at their players sometime. If you're really fortunate, you may get a little note from them someday saying how much they enjoyed trashing their group with said critter that you created. Or not. Your mileage may vary. Fnord.
