Gencon 05

First Post
Anyone know if Gen Con plans to move back to an earlier date in 2005? This current date (although I know that they don't want to compete with the car race) is hard for college professors and students to go to.

Looking at last year's convention book, it says that 2005's GenCon is:
July 28 - 31. But again, it's all due to when the NASCAR race is. If it's the same time....

Does anyone know what the exact dates will be for GenCon 2005?

After reading about everyone's experience this year, I will go next year if it doesn't interfere with Irish Fest.

Thanks.

Peace and smiles :)

Yep.

"The dates for the 2005 Gen Con Indy convention have been changed to August 18-21. The City of Indianapolis recentlty asked us for help in acquiring a new national convention for their summer lineup. The new dates fall flush with all of the future Gen Con dates up to 2013, so there should be far less date switching from here on out. You can expect Gen Con to begin anywhere between August 12 and August 16th."

GenCon

Drat. That means it has a good chance of being on the same weekend as Irish Fest every year. Now if GenCon was still in Milwaukee, I could of gone to both.

18-21 is what I saw, too. I don't suppose anyone knows the firm dates for Origins do they?

I would think these dates are firm as they are listed as future dates on the Origins website [1]. They include a tentative data section too for years further out and the following dates are not in that section.

June 30th to July 3rd

Small world Jaws! Irish Fest kept me from going this year as well. I was helping my Pa out at the Genealogy Tent this year. Printing out coat of arms and surname histories just wasn't as fun as rolling dice and walking the exhibit hall though ;)

I think I'll make arrangements ahead of time to miss Irish Fest next year though, maybe alternate the two events year by year from now on if that is going to be the case with the dates.
