Actually, I think it's a book that would hook your interest, Diaglo! It's all about getting back to the bassics from a whole new angle.

You should buy it, it's going to be a collector very soon.
I flipped through its 34 black and white pages at my local gaming store, and I can tell you it really looks excellent. Well, I didn't buy it, because I hadn't 42$ on me at that time, but I plan to get it through Amazon and thus benefit from the Share-the-Love discount. However, even without the discount, it's worth the money, believe me.
One strong point about this new prestige class, is that it is extremely well thought out, and balanced. Of course there is some typos here and there, so I don't know if the class in fact gets fighter or rogue bab, but that's a minor inconvenient (I have been told, that a 5 pages erratta would be released on the Internet very soon). I only regret that the ability concerning Krakens is not very clear, and could have been expanded to include normal-sized squids.
I think that paladins and wizards alike will find this class a good addition to their traditional abilities, especially when you also take the two new feats that are really innovative, something rare among d20 products. Well, the main illustration by Barry Elmore (do not confound with Larry Elmore whose style is less trash, so appears less "fashion", if you see what I mean
) is stunning, especially when you know that he has been paid 12,135$ for it. Anyway, the main interest of a d20 supplement is in the content, not the art. The five pages on equipment are extremely detailed, although I sometimes disagree with the prices given for a set of golden hooks (I don't want to spoil the book's discovery in telling you what golden hooks are intended for).
Anyway, some guy I know is actively playtesting the class in their new epic-level campaign, and I can tell you he is doing great!
