[DRM] - Put your money where your mouth is!

All the debate on DTRPG got me thinking, got me wanting to DO something to make the message crystal clear to the industry. I don't believe this is a few grumbling message board loons, but a sizeable number of the customer base. We need to demonstrate that DRM is not the path the PDF buying public will support.

So I urge all of you to take a trip to RPGNow and buy a PDF. If you've been meaning to pick something up for awhile now, this is the time! Or if you've never tried it, go for it now! The prices on RPGNow are very reasonable. Even if you're unsure of whether you'll like getting RPGs as a PDF there are tons of books available for as little as $5. Or several for less than that, though $5 is the minimum order.

Be sure to come back here and let everyone know what you bought. I'd like to support RPGNow for providing low cost access to open, useable PDFs as well as send a message to DriveThruRPG that their measures are not pleasing to the public.

Already done it.

Bought a number of PDFs in the last two days, some from RPGNow, some directly from the publisher (As in the HARP book from ICE), but *none* from DTRPG.

i bought the revised Elements of Magic the other day, since it looks like i might not be able to pick up Legacy of the Dragons in PDF like i'd wanted to this month. also sent email to RPGNow thanking them for staying clear of DRM.

FWIW, I already planned on picking up $10 of my biweekly gaming budget to do just that.

In other news, as some of you may know, I was planning on some pick up games at GenCon and the DC ENWorld game day. I am now considering specifically chosing which pick-up games I run to include content by PDF publishers, and cutting and pasting stuff on the character sheets to tempt the players to try out the material. I think I'll run either or both a d20 modern game using RPGObjects and TGM stuff, and/or a T20 gaming using some of their Traveller's Aide books.

Me too, though not as a protest or anything. They just happened to have a product I was interested in and was worth the cost ($5). If the product had come with DRM, I wouldn't have bought it, as that makes it no longer worth the cost. (Of course, IMO, free isn't worth the cost if it includes DRM, but that's just me.)

I'm actually planning on picking up Revised Elements of Magic when I get my next paycheck, and I already own several EN Publishing books (the Death and the Mounts ones, offhand).

On the topic of what ones I've picked up...

So far, the HARP book from ICE, and from RPGNow Blood and Fists: Hong Knog Knights, and Fantasy Lite Gaming Basic Players Guide. All three have been well worth the money.
