Help add plots to my campaign

First Post
I'm running a campaign with the following PCs:

Fighter 6/Eidolon 1 Half-Orc LG, Worships Lathander
Paladin 5/Marshal 2 Human LG, Worships Torm
Swashbuckler 5/Favored Soul 2 LG, Worships Selune

For the Fighter, he is a ghost using the Ghostwalk rules (as best as we can figure them out). However, he is not seeing any immediate benefits because he has been coporeal for the entire time. Basically, it is a very relaxed-ruled, house-ruled version of the Ghostwalk rules.

The Swashbuckler, if I remember correctly is LG, but I relaxed the rules about the alignment restrictions for divine casters and deities.

Anyways, they have recently acquired a keep within the Stonelands, a badlands area infested with badguys and monsters, on the borders of Cormyr. They are roughly a days ride from the Tilverton.

Any ideas you wanna throw out there?

Hm...I seem to remember something little about the area. My DM threw a interdimensional, flying, castle that raided everything in sight and then buried itself under a mountain when it wanted privacy.

Other than that I can't recall anything significant... :\

I must admit I'm not up on the setting either, but I can pass along a few suggestions.

1. Find out what your player's have in mind for their PCs. What are their plans? Their hopes and aspirations? What concerns them? What draws their attention?

2. Who else lives there? What are their plans, their hopes and aspirations? How do they intend to realize their dreams? Establishing what other folks are doing can go a long way towards setting up new adventures.

3. What would your players do if their plans were bollixed, disrupted, stymied, and/or upset? What would your NPCs do if their plans were bollixed, disrupted, stymied, and/or upset? Get that established and you've gone a step further in any possible adventure.

4. Establish what would then happen if such and such occurred. Who takes over should the Big Bad get killed (or other wise disposed of)? What if his lieutenant meets his end? Or both of them? How do the villains handle unforseen events? How do the players?

5. Be ready to promote NPCs. From Extras to Supporting Cast to Major Player as necessary. The innkeep stated out for a one time encounter could end up with a major role. Heck, with someone willing to take on the part he could become a PC.

Hope this helps.

I think you could have some fun with the keep. Perhaps their lord, king or similar might demand the host an event to celebrate their new keep?

Give that they sound like quite a fighty bunch, perhaps they could host a tournament. Jousting, swordsmanship, archery and so on. Medieval Olympics as it were! Aside from the games, there's quite a few plots that could be meshed in with that:

How do you persuade the entertainers and caterers to journey through the bandit infested countryside?

The neighbouring lord is jealous of the honour given to these young upstarts.

Some guests, possibly representatives of the clerical order who judge the contests, have been waylaid by the bandits. Maybe that lord hired them to do it?

One of the attending nobles has been marked for assasination. It must be stoped to avoid a major scandal. Perhaps this lord they dislike is the target...

The Black Knight, who wins every contest, is really a blackguard - using dark powers to cheat his way to victory. If no one can stop him, he wins the main prize - a princess as his bride... Of course, if one of the players stop him then they win the princess - which may be more trouble than they ever wanted? (Our GM ran something like this one and it was a lot of fun)

Aside from that, I can see a quest to get the fighter a body they can use?

Another one with the keep - perhaps some powerful neighbour was owed something by the previous owners of the keep. Now they want to collect. They're not necessarily evil, but could get nasty if they don't get what they want. A LN Wizard springs to mind as a good possibility.
