Hello everyone... shameless self promotion thread here, don't kill me.

I don't know how strict the policies on shilling are here but I figure I might as well give it a try, so here goes... first off I used to be a big D&D player from 2E into the later days of 3.5, after that though the group of friends I played with stopped hanging out together and I haven't really played since then. I don't have much time to play these days anyway, but I'd probably try to squeeze some in if someone invited me nonetheless. I was something of a min-maxer in my heyday... I would often create these tank builds as a player that were near impossible to take down via straight up physical combat as long as the CR of the enemies was somewhat close to our party level, but could often do very little offensively lol.

Anyway that's probably enough about my gaming style... I'll be honest and admit the main reason I'm here (although I registered an account a while ago, it's been inactive for... quite a while) is to pimp my writing. I'm a fantasy (of course) writer who's had short stories published about 50 times in various magazines, anthologies and webzines, and am just about ready to debut a novel. I have a special love of hardcore warriors of the fairer gender, and write larger than life, (intentionally) unrealistic characters who I fancy throwbacks to the epic heroes of old like Beowulf or Gilgamesh... or Conan. Only as often as not, female. There's some sample writing of mine on my blog, granted most of what's there right now isn't as deep or serious as my longer work, as I tend to favor totally brainless shallow fun in my shorts. Hope you enjoy them though!

Hey, good luck!

I just self-published my first novel via Amazon... which is a far cry from making money off of my writing, but still!

I see him around here once in a while. Your best best is to either seek out a thread about high/epic level D&D or else mention him like this: Upper_Krust

-we'll see if he pops up here!

EDIT: Huh, mentions may be off right now...

EDIT 2: Naah, I just forgot the underscore!

Did Upper Krust ever mention his comic ranking system which is sort of like a CR system for comic characters here? It was the subject of many a debate elsewhere.

Also shameless shill, the blog is updated with excited news. :)

Comic, or cosmic?

Comic as in comic books. Although he give the cosmic comic book characters' stats more attention than most readers do.

Ex - Iron Man's power level is 66, Thor's is 100, Superman is 133 (120 holding back). This determines the number of hits characters can take from each other.

...was working the past few nights, hence the delay.

Thanks... BTW, does Upper Krust still post here? We kind of know each other from another board lol.

I presume you mean Herochat where I can (inexplicably) no longer sign in? I do occasionally still lurk there (maybe once every week or so), but the scarcity of new characters and rarity of meaningful fights in today's 'written for the trade' drawn out arcs means that comic battle debating isn't getting enough new 'meat for the grinder'.

I don't think I ever mentioned it here (always busy with RPG related stuff)

Best of luck with the writing mate. :)

You are referring to the one and only Theory of Superhero Relativity. Probably the greatest (and only) work of its kind. One day I'll turn this into a book.

No other body of work...

...understands the difference between VERSUS and FEAT strength.

...can perfectly explain each character's power and durability right down to the predicted number of attacks it takes for a knock-out or fatality.

...and even though I seldom spoke of it; I actually had the characters rated down to the number of joules of energy their attacks would deliver.

Basically I converted comic books into an RPG (of sorts) JUST so that I could understand the medium and debate comic book battles. Its the kind of stuff I work on to unwind. :)

Comic.

Basically someone would start a debate on why character A beats character B and I'd explain (in my opinion - based on the mathmatical RPG-esque system I had constructed) exactly how many attacks it would take them to win.

Then that escalated into people calling my bluff saying I was talking utter nonsense so I challenged the entire forum to post examples of comic book battles that would break my system.

Last I recall I think my system was accurate in about 69% of cases (or something like that). Which is actually pretty good going for those who know how random comics can be at times.

There were always those who still weren't happy...

Them: "You can't count a speed-blitz as one attack!"

Me: "Yes I can, its my system."

But overall I had a lot of fun with the system and the ensuing debates. :D
