Robocop (2014) trailer is live

What do I think? I'm pleased that director Jose Paglia is going in a different direction with this film. He's not doing a shot for shot remake of Paul Verhoven's original, but doing his own twist on it. From viewing the trailer, this Robocop looks to be faster and more agile than the original. Whether Joel Kinnaman will be equal to Peter Weller, remains to be seen.

think the movie is going to be big but I think one of the under rated aspects of the first RoboCop was the world it created as a backdrop, don't know if they will get that right. Also, looks like they may be making the same mistake that Iron man 3 did, gimmicking the suit.

Hmm, seeing SLJ raised my hopes a bit that the movie won't make the mistake of taking itself too seriously. We've lost the blood, lets hope we don't loose to much of the hilarity of the original.

Frank Miller was never involved in the original. Only with the sequels. And frankly, I thought the ideas he brought to Robocop were crap.

Yeah. I was impressed. I haven't really been following it, so I was very surprised to see Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton in there. I was further pleased to see Miguel Ferrer in the credits on IMDB. Maybe he'll snort more cocaine off a hooker's cleavage in this one.

I'm not sure what you mean by gimmicking the suit. The original had the gun holster. This one adds a movable face shield, rather than making the man pull long screws out of his head to remove his helmet. Or was it the "make it black" line? That makes sense, considering Robocop is meant to be a product sold to police forces across the world.

I liked the look of the ED-209, too. It actually reminded me of a Battletech Locust when I saw it.
