Wowed by Gravity trailer

Anyone else impressed by the Gravity trailer? I'm trying to figure out if there are glaring errors in the physics of the collision, but it seems correct. (I can't say about the overall orbital mechanics and the likelyhood of certain encounters), but the basic physics of the collision seem to be good, with an impressive attention to detail.

I'm worried that the entire sequence may be quite disturbing to some folks. I'm already slightly freaked out by just the trailer.

Any thoughts?

To me, it's almost rare to see A-list stars in even half-decent movies. There's so much derivative crap, and it's regular that a production company will hire a name actor to elevate a bad movie, so there are a lot of bad movies with good actors out there. But this one seems interesting despite having exactly those type of actors. It looks like a visual spectacle that we haven't seen before, and Alfonso Cuaron is rarely boring. It's on the short list of movie's I'd consider seeing in IMAX.

Quote from director:
They put in explosions [in the trailer]. As we know, there is no sound in space. In the film, we don't do that

The actual trailer link would help.

Interesting.

Looks like a lot of panic screaming as she seems to run into every major space object up there.

I'm betting she dies at the end when after surviving all that, her orbit intersects a screw from a 1960's mission that's been zinging around up there.

I'm space savvy and while the special effects look great and I really like the idea of actually portraying the environmental effects realistically, the first thing the trailer made me think of was it's "Open Water" in space. It's just a disaster movie in space with good special effects, so it's not on my have to see list.

That would be fantastic. A stripped-down survival narrative absent dramatic conceits and hollywoodisms, but with $50 million of special effects? We can only dream...

I agree that would be fantastic - I highly doubt that Gravity will be that :( in fact just the opposite I suppose...could be wrong, we'll have to wait and see.
