After reading the sources that they reference I think a more accurate title would have been: "Nasa scientists finally figure out how to shift through signal noise to detect propene on Titan". :p

And nowhere does it say anything about coming from Earth. I don't know where you got that from.

Yes. Note that propene (aka propylene) is not plastic. It is merely one of the important starting components of what we make plastics (like "polypropylene") from.

Propylene has a very simple chemical formula - C3H6. It isn't too terribly surprising to find it someplace you also find methane.
