D&D 5E I have something... THE TARRASQUE!

It's dishing out an average--average--of 148 hp every round, just on its own turn (so not counting legendary actions or swallowed creatures). It's immune to half the world, and it has 676 hit points.

I admit, it feels odd not to have the regeneration, but holy crap, does it really need it?! :uhoh:

Add me to the list of those that miss the tarrasque's regeneration. I'm not sure how much it'd alter the challenge level to homebrew regeneration 40 per round back in (though it's probably not necessary).

Also, I notice there's no damage reduction. Just immunities to piercing, bludgeoning, and slashing weapons that aren't magic. To me, this shows a difference in the power of magic weapons in 5E v. 3.5/PF. Magic Weapons are truly epic! Now, that I'm thinking about it, a little more, this helps me calibrate my expectations about magic items a little more... All magic weapons are epic! I think I really like that.

Depending on how 5E handles flying it is not all that bad. One just needs a way to keep flying, a magical ranged weapon, scrolls of Cone of Cold (unless that requires an attack roll now) or a huge pile of acid vials.

And I share Saelorn's dislike for the "special snowflake" legendary status. Its another unnecessary gameist attribute.

I agree. I'm also really not a fan of "Unaligned", everything's aligned. It isn't possible to be "Unaligned", that's the whole point of Neutral.

Neutral is a philosphical alignment of Balance between all the extremes, unaligned is the inablity to have a philospbical alignment, having an alignment is either a philosphical position, or having one of those positions be apart o f ones essence.

Anyways anyone else notice the (Titan) subtype, that's a new subtype. I wonder what signifance mechanically it has if any?

Fly or die again? Sheesh, at least Paizo had the forsight to give their version the ability to fire spines so it had a ranged attack. Even a Fling ogre sized dirt clod or boulder would have been something. Or at least a Leap and Claw to surprise low fliers.

I don't see anything in the D&D rules saying a monster with appropriate appendages can't pick up a boulder and throw it...and that sort of improvisation is certainly encouraged in 5e

Well, now I know what my tarrasque will do against flying foes.

Looking at the modifiers on the saves it is proficient with, I think it's safe to say that the proficiency bonus continues to scale beyond 20. Looks like it's rocking a +9 proficiency bonus!

It doesn't need a special ability for that. ;) According to the Jump rules (and not scaling for size/muscle mass, but just a straight reading from the PHB), the tarrasque can jump high enough to reach something 88 feet off the ground, without rolling. Higher, with an athletics check.

And higher if you assume that, while it normally stands leaning forward, it's capable of straightening and standing upright, since that increases its starting height.
