I agree, but it is also potentially extremely weak, since there are a lot of ways to gain/give dis/advantage. Maybe if it was an ability that ignored normal limitations, and gave a guaranteed Advantage, even if you would otherwise have disadvantage.

An Anti-Disadvantage Field. Non-magical, of course....

I disagree. You don't want a huge amount of stacking. A cap is a good thing that keeps optimization from completely dominating non-optimized players.

Also, if the Warlord is giving advantage, then the wizard can skip casting for sight and cast Meteor Swarm instead.

While I would like to see a Warlord class, it would be tough to keep it in balance. Say for example you just had a fighter chassis, but all PC in a certain range got the equivalent of constant bless spell as long as the Warlord was conscious. That's pretty good right there, but wouldn't have any "theme" to it. Its also too close to a Paladin, but a paladin has trouble with concentration spells since they should be in the thick of it all the time.

Without 5E being a powers based game it would be tough to get the concept workable and fun. Warlords made the 4e game for me though.

I agree aura's should be left to the paladin.

I disagree that warlord powers can't be done, because they already are. Combine Battlemasters's maneuvers, Purple Dragon Knights insperational healing and action granting, Mastermind's help action, Bard's inspiration dice, ect... and you have yourself a solid warlord. Plus all the other ideas that have been floating around that you could choose from.

The issue is that's spread out over 4 different sub-classes. You can't even get PDK and Battlemaster by multiclassing.

I've seen you bring this up before... but I forgot to ask then so I'll ask now... what is it that can't be gotten a different way in 5e that makes being able to multi-class BM and PDK such an important thing?

BM has attack granting. PDK has inspirational buff skills. Both are considered important for Warlord, as far as I have read.

They are just warlord-style features that already exists in the game.

It's not those specific features that are needed. Just to have a full class with features similar to it.

Ok... I just don't see why, unless you need specific features in that combination, you keep specifically calling that out. I can't get all the fighter features, or all the ranger features in the game since I can't multiclass into sub classes of the same class... does that mean we don't have a true fighter or ranger?

Technically, you can still accomplish what the BM has (superiority dice and maneuvers) via a feat. So it's possible to do just that (have a PDK with maneuvers). I will fully admit that it might not meet the needs of what people want though.

We have a character that is full of fighter features. You can have a character that is full of ranger features.

You cannot have a character that is full of warlord features.
