It's because I don't own Volo's Guide. Didn't even know one wss in it. Would love to hear the difference.

Unless something had changed, they said they'd like to facilitate sub-classes, but full classes are unlikely. If something did change, great.

The stuff around deities and such us because I'd like to be able to post a setting wiki for my players to reference. Has nothing to do with crunch, whatsoever. Just what I want in the campaign manager.
I'm totally in to buy the core 3 books on launch, as well as LMoP and SKT, as I'm running both of those and having everything in the digital, searchable format is awesome. As someone noted up above, sure I've already got everything in dead tree, but I've blown way more money on kickstarters and other silliness that sits unplayed. This I'll actually use.

I hadn't actually seen the say that implementing full homebrew classes is unlikely to happen, and that's unfortunate - i hope that changes eventually. My SKT group has a UA revised ranger at least, plus a homebrew wizard subclass - hope i can add that before too long. We'll see.

I'll likely hold off on a subscription for a bit, but expect I'll pony up for a Master Tier once I can do enough that it's worth getting my players using it.

Yeah, I know.

I think eventually we're gonna have to force our governments to create and maintain a sort of archive where we can store and access our online property when the providers fail to do so. Or something like that
Except it's not your property and never will be. Read the License Agreement your acknowledged.

Understand what you are paying for, don't hope for government intervention to provide you with what you want.

Huh. I thought what I wrote - "I think eventually we're gonna have to force our governments to create and maintain a sort of archive where we can store and access our online property when the providers fail to do so" - the bolded bits especially, would've suggested I wasn't talking about this this product alone, or the details of any individual purchase.

Maybe, not yet. There are components of the character creation that are lacking, unless somehow I've missed it (which is possible)

1) printing my character sheet - while digital tools are fine if I forget the sheet, or I'm rushed (heading directly to the game after work), I still want to bring the sheet with me & expect my players to do the same.

2) equipment management
a) its a bigger deal when creating characters, especially at 1st level. When I create a level 1 Rogue and the PHB says choose a rapier or a shortsword, I expect the digital tools to let me click on one and it gets added to the (not yet available) character sheet.

b) alternately, if I roll or am given starting gold by my DM, I want to peruse the Armor, Weapons & Equipment list, complete with prices, click on it to purchase and have the item added to my inventory (& and gold subtracted).

Edit: I should add that I likely won't ever buy Adventures - if I need a digital version, I would purchase through Roll20 as that is where I would likely play it. If I need something that is in one of the adventures, I'll 'homebrew' it.

Though I mentioned License Agreement, I wasn't talking about this product either.

But if you believe your government should force providers to do something in direct contradiction to the agreement you acknowledged. Them we have different views.

I think my first response should've been: Why are responding to a suggestion for a future archive with "But that's not how it works right now?"

You can download the stuff you buy and use it, without using their online services, without any subscription. You do buy expansion packs. And you can make house ruled custom stuff. Also, it's made by Curse Media, a Twitch company, which is an Amazon company.

No not yet you can't. And it's only the app that is offline as far as I could tell.

Well of course not yet, it's not live yet! But he's objecting to what's been proposed by them, and they've said what the plan is, and his objections for the most part are met. What else can they do other than say, "You asked for X so we're going to give you X"?

Yes I'll subscribe. The question for me is really how many books will I buy. I''m waiting to see what they'll do with regards to Fantasy Grounds.
