Nice to see them showing more of the plot. I didn't feel that the 'Jump' soundtrack did the trailer any favours, but I loved that little 'twinkle' of Back To The Future theme at the end.

Well, that was fun

I think the references in the movie are more “video games” than the “80s pop culture” of the book. Which means I won’t get any of them.

WEll, that looks like a cool movie.

Kinda confusing that it has the same name as the book Ready Player One, but hey, there are only so many names left, right?

sarcasm aside, what the hell is that rebellion plot? The book has some genuine flaws, but there was no need to add a rebellion/neo plotline to it. Just seems weird. I kinda thought hollywood was getting better about dramatically changing stories for adapations, but I guess not.

I don't see the inconsistency. From an in-Oasis viewpoint, going up against the interests of the corporation that runs the whole thing is pretty much a rebellion, and even in the book, by the end of it there was enough semi-organised opposition to IOI's efforts that it was tantamount to open warfare.

It's a completely different narrative from the one in the book, IMO.

He also seems to be new to the Oasis at the start, which is a weird change.

It's not even a narrative. It's a couple of lines in a trailer, and trailers always lie.

Right, because introducing the audience to a new concept through the medium of a character experiencing it for the first time is such a weird thing for a movie to do.

They were also a number of gunter clans dedicated to taking out as many suxorz as possible, they also put him in Columbus instead of starting outside of OKC ( but that's okay since we don't really spend a lot of time there)

I also cna't believe I missed Akria's bike
If i think i'm right you're referring to the scene with him and Art3mis dancing? That's done at birthday party that they get invited to.

No X-Wings. And I’m betting no Tomb of Horrors.

They have an Overwatch thing. But I’ve never played that. I’m the total 80s nostalgia target, which the book hit square on. Seems the movie is not so much that.
