He / Him
For lineage (using as WotC does) there's not a playable were-person that could follow rules similar to dhampir and the rest from Van Richten's.

For a new race I would dig Hybsil
A playable werewolf (or other lycanthrope) is such a big trope in fantasy video games and stories that I'm surprised it's not an official race! It's also just a lot of fun to play.

In a Dresden Files FATE game, I played a homeless werewolf in San Francisco... One of my favorite characters!

CR 1/8
  • Aranea
  • Octopoids
  • Fungusfolk
  • Flying Monkeys!!!!

A little more outre...
  • pure Energy beings of some sort (I'm envisioning these in a corporeal "shell," like Vorlons or something)
  • Sentient swarms (of insect-ish things)
  • Origami construct beings (shapeshifters, more focused on assuming "object" qualities than animal qualities)
  • higher-Dimensional beings (eg, with dimension door abilities, "ranged" touches, maybe some time-hopping?)

And also
  • Flying monkeys!!!!

I just thought there were already rules for gnoll PCs in one of the supplements. I could be wrong. 🤷‍♀️
There is, but it's in Exploring Eberron which is "technically" third partyish.

I mean Kobold Press also has Gnolls in the Heroes of the Southlands supplement as well, but I feel the Exploring Eberron version is better. The Kobold Press version is more like the runt/weaker versions of Gnolls if ya wanna be technical about it. But 5E doesn't have an "official" Gnoll racial pc write-up.

See at first I was for/excited for Lineages. Especially if they were to be designed as an overlay/mesh to be applied to races. But, the last couple of books, and the more recent Multiverse/Spelljammer UA seems to be a more better direction. Especially now that WoTC seems to be trying to wade out of the kiddie side of the pool, ish, by giving us new racial typing options. The Ooze one was unexpected, at least for how soon of a UA debuted it. So I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for more options to be made available, such as Aberrations and Undead. And they can pull an Autognome with "handwaving" some of the racial complications away by playing as such options.
