D&D 5E Sussing Out Wild Shape

They tried something like that in the DNDnext playtest, but I don't believe it was very popular.

D&D 5E Is there a such thing as a combat simulator?

I would be interested in this as well, even if it only handles basic combat.

New Sage Advice: Class Features, Combat, Spells, & Monsters

The note about DM choosing the exact creature for a conjure could be a hit to the utility of those spells. When my party is trapped in a tree trying to escape the goblin raiding party below, 8 giant lizards won't be near as helpful as 8 giant owls.

D&D 5E Player tip: Conjured Animals

An addendum to Giant Owls: Have them carry your friends instead of enemies and you've got an hours worth of flight for the entire party. Regarding managing 8+ beasts in combat, has anyone come up with rules to convert beasts into a swarm? It's not quite as versatile as rolling each one...

D&D 5E What class really is the "jack of all trades"?

I would say a druid is your best bet. The ability to choose from any of your spells on a daily basis means you can go heavy on heals, utility or damage depending on the style of the player or what is needed. If it is a moon druid, they also have the opportunity to melee, scout, etc.

    D&D 5E Aerial Combat

Is this necessarily true? The rule in PHB states: Nothing in there about choosing not to move, or is that somewhere else?

    D&D 5E The Problem With Gish 2.0

That's an incorrect interpretation of the rules, actually. He forgot to take into account the wording for multiclassing. "You determine what spells you know and can prepare for each class individually, as if you were a single-classed member of that class."

    Dragonlance Dragonlance style magic schools

In AD&D's "Dragonlance Adventures" (1987) it listed the schools of the different orders as follows: white robe: abjuration, charm, conjuration, divination, enchantment, evocation red robe: alteration, conjuration, divination, illusion, invocation, phantasm, summoning black robe: charm...

    D&D 5E Druid Spider Form

I don't think that the strand of web from a Tiny, CR0 , Str 2 spider would be strong enough to climb on. However, the web of a Giant Spider is a completely different story.

D&D 5E Power Gamers Guide to Elemental Evil Players Companion

Overall I like the new spell options but I was a bit annoyed at this: C'mon wizards, if you want it limited, then specify the limits.

D&D 5E Would you allow this if you were the DM

The type of attack is listed in the description of the creature in question. You'll see for most beasts it is listed as a "melee weapon attack". An unarmed strike is also a "melee weapon attack".

D&D 5E Would you allow this if you were the DM

As far as I know, all beast attacks are melee weapon attacks, not unarmed. However, I would allow the unarmored defense: either normal AC or wis + dex, whichever is higher.

    D&D 5E Analyzing 5E: Overpowered by design

My impression has been that the damage of cantrips (outside of warlocks) is not that impressive. Before level 5, many wizards can do better damage with a light crossbow. If it is just an issue of theme, then we can agree to disagree. I enjoy having a caster who has something to cast every round...
