They are replacing 4 books with 4 books...compared to current book pricing, total for the 4 books is going up ~$30 ($240 vs $210). Total page count seems pretty flat (1496 for the new Core vs 1528 current).
You seem to be a big PF1e fan, awesome! Just carry on...not sure how this would have any...
For those interested, the artist is Philipp A. Urlich; he has posted this image on ArtStation. In his description, "The silver dragon is the official D&D 5e design originally by Todd Lockwood."
No issues with either of my copies. However, I have seen a number of comments out there regarding misprints and binding issues. Haven't heard of any case where Paizo hasn't stepped up to address the issue as needed (i.e. replacing the book).
I've not really had these experiences in the past, though sometimes subscription shipments got a little funky. In this case, I had the shipping notice by end of the following day...pretty pleased right now.:D
You might want to drop CS a note or post in the forum. I was in a similar,at situation...turned out my subscription had somehow been scheduled for September. A quick note and it was sorted in a day or so...now have shipping confirmations ;)
I'm wondering if they'll have a variety of metals as part of the KS...aluminum would be a great (but expensive) choice to keep the weight down. I use a very large mouse pad...nice large surface and good padding.
Quality of the resin can be a factor, but can't say that I've heard or experienced those kinds of difficulties with resin. It isn't the easiest material to work with...wouldn't recommend it to s novice modeler.
