You don't have to do them. It's just another way the game provides to emulate that feeling of experiencing a story in a JRPG video game. I'm personally used to it, it's been a tool myself and other GMs I know have been using since the 2000s, but it isn't for everyone - particularly if your group...

I don't think you need to be playing the game in person. I have online players who wish they had cards because they're much easier to reference for abilities, so they still have value to a lot of online players, particularly if they aren't using Demiplane.

I somewhat disagree. The value proposition for a single set for a player is actually kind of amazing. 72 cards you can use for an entire campaign for $25 is pretty good, particularly if they're oversized and at all the quality of the ones in the core set, or better yet, the variant art ancestry...

That's fair, I was mostly going off the fact that the ones in the video clearly are, which the box size would seem to reinforce, but prototype and early production materials etc etc.

If that's the size that the actual class pack cards end up being at, I may consider a whole set. Those nice oversized cards are going to read quicker at the table AND keep my nice, gold trim cards cleaner, heh. Since these aren't the same cards in the core set, seemingly, I'm not surprised...
