    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

it would be nice if the core rules helped with that baseline, the way 5e does. I have no issue with splat supplements to help PGs scratch their itch. But I do have an issue with the most popular rpg in the world going in a direction where added complexity becomes mandatory. I think D&D should...

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

75 feats won't fit there. I get it, there is no upper limit for complexity for your desire to crunch out characters and you have no time or appreciation for the fact that a lot of gamers don't share that. The humanity indeed. I would never use such a game as an introductory rpg for kids, for...

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

In a core game, it is massive. It's a lot to ask players to study and learn and a lot for them to go through when creating a new character. The decision points will be an absolute slog at many tables. There will always be the dedicated ones who internalise all of it and can quickly visualize...

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

And similarly, there has always been a drive towards less. 5e struck a nice balance, by looking to make it possible to play a straight featless fighter who could still work alongside a tricked out warlock/paladin. Ok, they ultimately failed, but 5e is still a better game for trying to make that...

    D&D (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Cover Reveal

Marvel-posing, brush-cartoon style. Very meh. I'd have preferred a scene showing a group actually doing stuff an adventurer group might be doing. For similar reasons, I really like the internal art example of the old saturday morning cartoon group exploring a temple entrance.

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

Honestly, 75 feats in a core game sounds terrible to me. Session 0 slog and more charop-minigame shenanigans. 5e curtailed the excesses of 3e by having a tighter core base and the excellent rule of core+1 rulebook. I was hoping for less feats better designed.

D&D General The Not-Cleric Class for the Other Powers

I also follow a similar line of thinking from real-world mythology. Gods is a class of otherworldly being. Like the aesir and vanir, that have a [lawful] relationship with humanity and priests acting as intermediaries. The Jotun are a different class of entities, even if they are of similar...

D&D 5E Tasha's Drow Art and the Future of Their Depictions in D&D

I like the new look. It's a change of shade only, which is tactfully conservative to in regards to what came before. And frankly, it's always been slightly iffy that "evil elf = black elf" even if it has mythological precedent from svartalfar that were said to be "blacker than pitchblack". It...

    D&D 5E  Halfling [Race-as-class] for 5e

This is exactly the sort of nitpicking that I am after , so thanks. It's a good point with wanderlust . I will give it some thought . I pondered about whether or not they should still have disengage . At the end of the day , I figured that with 'evade the horde' and stalkers dodge , they can...

    D&D 5E  Halfling [Race-as-class] for 5e

Halfling [Race-as-class] for 5e Hi, As part of my project to make a Menzter style version of 5e, I just completed my first attempt at one of the three racial classes, that I thought you might get a kick out of...

D&D 5E Does progression rate slow down?

That is not true though. Psionic Powers has a very different treatment of Psionic. I like gurps a lot, although I prefer 5ed. But the reason I prefer dnd is exactly because I find gurps too simulationist.

D&D 5E Does progression rate slow down?

I see that. Same then how, IMC, hp is a reflection of bodily fortitude, catching your breath, skill and a sort of accumulated divine luck that the gods as a whole favour the exceptional with (for similar reasons, important people in the world are often high level. They are simply favoured with...

D&D 5E Does progression rate slow down?

D&D is not really Simulationist friendly at all. If you object to the things you do, you should object to notions like levelling up instead of piecemeal progression, the arbitrarily defined attributes, hit points, that AC makes you harder to hit instead of reduce damage and the very notion of...
