Also, I believe that in ancient times 'towers' were seen as an afront to the gods (Only kings and nobility (Divine Right) had towers), Wizards were challenging the gods in their own right with the use of magic, and a 'tower' was a good symbol.

It does seem I'm late to posting... Ever thought of trying the 'Horizon Walker' PrC? It'll give you 'mastery' over terrain, showing your experience with being ALL around. Has BAB and save acceleration like a fighter, and more skill points per level then a fighter, minus the feats. 8 Levels...
