n00bish questions regarding creating a campaign

How would you handle those missions where stealth is suggested, if you were wearing "loud" armor? There is a difference between stealth-suggested "levels" such as the Dam, but combat-heavy "levels" (archives, control, cradle, etc.). Would it be better just to say "eh, screw it", and ignore...

How the hell do you sort dungeon tiles? Or even tokens?

I've got the dungeon tiles just in their respective boxes. I haven't figured out a way to sort them. Mob Tokens, however, I have sorted out by "creature type" in plastic baggies. "undead", "uniques" (non numbered tokens), "humanoid", "elemental", "reptiles", "woodland creatures", etc.

n00bish questions regarding creating a campaign

Thanks, Quickleaf. Pretty much the latter; almost equating MI6 to how an organization like the Harpers would work. I'll look into Zeit. Understood; I'm just seeing a mild difference (if only in continuity), between a ranger/rogue/etc. shooting silently from a hand crossbow, and a wiz/sorc...

n00bish questions regarding creating a campaign

Afternoon all! I've got a few stupid questions regarding creating a campaign, and I'm sorry if these are reposts; feel free to virtually smack me upside the head and link me to other posts. Background: I've decided that it'd be cool to create a Goldeneye-based campaign for D&D. I've sketched...

So ... my DM doesn't let us buy items ... ever ... what do I do?

If he values RP moreso than anything, play the game. I second what was said about researching <ITEM>, or constantly being on the lookout for new items. Is he the type of person that if you impress him with your RP, he'll respect/give you more leeway? A second thing could be to scavenge...

Am I Being a Jerk DM?

I think you should think about differentiating between "intelligent enemies" and "normal mob behavior". In the case of humanoid thieves, I would say they are intelligent enough to coordinate attacks to maximize havoc and damage. However, I don't think a pack of wolves would be "as smart" to...

When does magic loot become too much; how do I fix?

Thanks, everyone! I'll definitely keep this in mind--and won't make the same mistake twice! -CastX7

    Wizard robes ideas

I'd take into consideration the makeup of your party: are all the roles covered? Are there more strikers or controllers than there "should" be? Also, note what attacks they use most often. If they're fulfilling a controller's role, the character'd benefit more from one type of bonus than if...

When does magic loot become too much; how do I fix?

Thank you everyone! Just to answer a few Qs: Unwise: I'm not 100% sure about this; * they are level four or five * the highest + is +3 I think. * I just ran them through the char generator. Outside of racial/class bonuses, I haven't given them anything. No spellscars/tattoos/"Belongs to...

When does magic loot become too much; how do I fix?

Evening everyone! I'm DMing a really loose/more-fun-than-rules-lawyering makeshift campaign (read: I'm just going from module to module ATM) with only TWO PC's in the party. In hindsight, I think I tweaked their characters at LVL 1 a bit much, but I don't want to kill off characters that they...

    Creating PC's with Personality

I can primarily speak as a PC, here's my $0.02; hope it helps! When I created my character, I leaned heavily towards the min/max style of creation--standard elad rogue, but I wanted hand crossbows. From there, I took the attributes and started to think about how he would interact--as wisdom...

D&D 4E Best adventures to introduce 4e with?

I'll report to my virtual flogging and say the Red Box was a GREAT intro for not only me DMing, but for my players into D&D--everything was self-contained, and, outside of the initial hook, everything you need as the DM is in one book. I will agree with the other posters that Slaying Stone and...

    Assess the Striker

My $0.02 as someone who played a hand-xbow rogue: If it hasn't been said, what's the weaponry choice of this character? You may need to allow the player to use curse and sneak attack as an at-will as opposed to a hybrid-encounter power. If they haven't taken the "Sneak in the Attack" feat (or...
