WHAT MADE ME A NERD… ABOUT ME.

I grew up in the country. Yet, I became a nerd. I was in elementary school when it happened. It started with two movies, Empire Strikes Back and Tron. Every time we went to rent a movie, I would rent those two. Over and over. I never grew tired of them. Not even to this day. Then I met someone in middle school. A person I still know to this day. He introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons. It was the 1st edition of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons by TSR. I was forever changed. I would go over to his house to stay the night and wake up early to read the books. It was just the two of us playing so our characters were out of control in no time. After a few years, TSR put out the Marvel Superheroes Role-playing Game. By this time, I was already submerged in science fiction, fantasy and comic books. Seeing this game come out made me super excited. I bought it and we played almost everyday of the week. Our group of two had grown a bit as well. We had added another person. Also, a long time friend of mine. Sometimes there were two to three extra players. Friends from high school or friends of friends but the core group at the time was three.

Between all this, I had met more people. More gamers, who were playing Star Trek by FASA. I played with them every Sunday evening. Years went by and some had left but I would still call them friends if I saw them again. One year,1999, I started working for Dell Computer Corporation. During training, I met someone who loved role-playing games the same as me and my friends. We started talking and Heavy Gear the Role-playing game came up in our conversation. In no time, I had made a new friend. All the close friends I have now in my life, came from role-playing games. It was a wonderful chain reaction that improved my life. I owe many happy memories to my role-playing experiences. They have brought me to where I am today. Sitting here, writing to you. My hopes and dreams of keeping role-playing alive and well. It led me to creating this place called ActiveRPG. Now you know about me and my journey. I would love to know about yours.
