D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

I agree, losing shield in particular is a shame, and rather odd thematically. The limitation on defensive field uses makes sense and stops you having permanent immunity to repeatable low-level damage. I'm not sure why it counts to your proficiency mod, rather than Intelligence mod. Guide now...

Sorry for being so slow to notice your comment! Very good point, now addressed.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

Thanks for the suggestion! Unless you're infusing a strength-setting item, then I think you're better sticking to finesse weapons and dexterity rather than going with strength. That's a valid call though, now that non-Battlesmiths do not get an extra attack. NB that the green-flame blade...

D&D 5E A Collection of D&D Class Build Guides - Wiki Thread the Second

Now that it's a class in a printed book, any chance of adding my artificer guide to this list? [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

The guide has now been updated to the new class presented in Eberron: Rising from the Last War. The class changes significantly in focus for the Alchemist and Artillerist, by dint of them not getting a second weapon attack, and the removal of the Arcane Weapon spell is a loss. It remains a...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

I initially hesitated on rating the bonus spells lower than black, simply because it's free spells and that's never a bad thing. But on further reflection I agree that the list is so bad that it should go down to purple. Re the spell slots, of course it is the same as the paladin - who in my...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

I agree with your reading of it, at least RAW. I'm not sure whether or not that was an intended consequence, but it quite probably was.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

Unusually, the Artificer uses a spellcasting focus for every spell - whether or not it requires material components. See the "Tools Required" paragraph of Spellcasting in the UA class. Alchemical Mastery can therefore trigger on spells without material components.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

    1. I meant mechanics, but I accept it was sloppy wording. As noted at the start of the document, this is still WIP (work in progress). I'm adding to it and modifying it as I go along. A number of things are lacking in detailed or indeed any proper comment. I intend to change this. 2. It was...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

Yes, good catch! I had to re-read the wording quite carefully to come to that conclusion, to make sure it was the spell doing the damage rather than the weapon attack per se. Also note that all your spellcasting uses a focus, whether or not the spell has a material component. Arcane weapon has...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

    7. Infusions Most items are extremely campaign-specific in terms of their usefulness. Significant variables include the make-up of your party, the challenges you regularly face, and the magic items you acquire naturally. For this reason, the ratings in this section are even more subjective than...

    6. Spells Ritual spells will be marked with (R), and spells that require concentration with (C). Expensive components are generally noted. Spells added in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything are marked with an asterisk*. Most of your spells come from the wizard list, though a number are cleric...

"So art lies hid by its own artifice" - an artificer guide This guide is now updated to the latest version of the artificer found in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, previously found in Eberron: Rising from the Last War. Please let me know if I've missed anything. Tasha's provides a new...
