I play
a lot of role playing games. At any given time my husband is usually running one or two solo campaigns for me (usually if it's two they are in two different systems) and quite often we're doing at least one game with others as well either in real life or online.
I'm a total nerd when it comes to systems, usually becoming quite the rules lawyer at any gaming table. I argue rules in both the player's favor and the DM's without discrimination, and sometimes feel like a bit of a kill joy when my desire to understand how the mechanics of something within the system work puts a damper on other players' plans. Still, they bare with me.
I'm also really invested in the "role playing" aspect of role playing. I'd rather be in a game with a moderate to heavy influence on being in character and responding to circumstances over a game that is all dice rolling. The two both play a part in an enjoyable experience for me.
And I write a lot of random poetry for my characters when my characters are the sort who would write said poetry. I have been posting said poems on my blog (I'll send you a link in a PM if you'd like, but there's cursing there and technically it's against the rules to post links to sites with cursing) on and off since 2012. The idea behind these poems is that they are free to anyone to use if they'll enhance your game in any way (even if it requires you to modify them). A small selection of my blog poems have been taken for use by others, put to actual music, and translated into other languages. It's actually really cool to me that people do that. I like the idea of adding a bit more depth to a stranger's table.
My primary system at the moment is
Pathfinder 2. My husband and I are loving getting back some crunch and monster variance after playing primarily
Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition for five years. We still play a 5e game too at the moment.
We have also dabble in
Invisible Sun,
Golarion, Pathfinder,
Dungeons & Dragons 4th (briefly), 3.5 and 3.0,
Pokemon 5e,
Dusk City Outlaws,
Blades in the Dark,
Godbound, The
Black Hack,
Rad-Hack,
Vampire: the Masquerade,
Werewolf: the Apocalypse, Changeling: the Dreaming,
Mage: the Ascension,
Demon: the Fallen,
Wraith: the Oblivion,
Hunter: the Reckoning, also most of those
World of Darkness systems in their 20th edition release version as well,
Ryutamma, MouseGuard, and I'm sure many more I'm forgetting at this point.
We enjoy board games too, with a particular fondness for
Kingdom Death: Monster and
Gloomhaven. And we also role play in MMOs like
Guild Wars 2,
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and of course
World of Warcraft. But I won't probably go into much on those here since they're not tabletop RPGs.
