Take Your First Look At The Upcoming ALTERNITY RPG!

The problem I found with Cortex Classic was the dice resolution felt too random without a solid structure to lay it on. Representing the Abilities and Skills by the Polyhedral dice made it hard to get a gauge on your chances for success in a situation. Alternity avoided this by having a static...

Take Your First Look At The Upcoming ALTERNITY RPG!

I greatly prefer the Alternity skill resolution over the simplified 3E. It allows for more variance in results and works especially well for skill checks. I still run Alternity and have yet to find a system I enjoy more, especially in running cinematic/television adaptations. I've been running a...

Adjusting 4 PCs for WotC adentures

Double echo on scaling the encounters. It's ridiculously easy to scale up or down. I wish it would have been done for us. My DM for Keep on the Shadowfell didn't scale down (we had 4 heroes) because he thought 4 was supposed to be the standard. We had a TPK on a certain encounter that others...

    Smuggled photos

The new layouts look awesome. And very user-friendly. I'm quite happy with the art direction of 4E.

    Daily Art Preview

Now he looks a little nauseated. I like the original better.

    Daily Art Preview

I like the new gnome. He looks like he is in touch with the nature magic. His clothes look like they are reacting to magic in the atmosphere by spreading out in an unnatural manner. The swirling energy around the wand and hand supports this impression. Definitely not bland.

    4th Edition Red Wizards

Hey Derren. Did they provide a preview article on how this is done? I'd really like to read this. Are there random tables to aid the DM in creating the NPCs. Oh, probably not. Since you said there were no rules. This really cuts down on DM prep.

Okay, where do you stand on diagonal movement?

That can be said for any of the choices though, with 1-1-1-1 being the most palatable to a greater number of people. The majority prefers not 1-2-1-2, not hexagonal, etc... If I was making a financial decision based on this poll I would go with the choice that took 48% of the vote over 27% or...

Okay, where do you stand on diagonal movement?

It's also worth noting that it is almost twice the percentage of the next choice. A significant difference for any poll. Of course selection bias is always an issue when dealing with forum polls. There isn't enough control of the various factors. With that said I still don't believe you can...

Okay, where do you stand on diagonal movement?

1-1-1-1 is Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun! Seriously I like the simplification. It will make it easier to eyeball movement on the game table and speed up play. I don't even mind the Firecube.

Any New Info on Skill Encounters?

I'm totally sold on this system as described. It will be interesting to see more of the details.

    What was Alternity like?

I couldn't disagree more with these statements. The examples you gave are very superficial similarities and are very misleading. Alternity is a very distinct system from AD&D and the d20 system. In fact D&D 3.x has a lot more in common with AD&D 2e then Alternity ever did. D&D 3.x maintains...
