Goodman Games Dungeon Crawl Classics - So which ones are the best?

I've got to recommend "Lost Tomb of the Sphinx Queen." My group ran through this one about a year ago, and it's a legend to us. It's more a series of "boss battle" type encounters than a traditional crawl, which we really dug. If complicated high level combat doesn't get your juices...

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

Plenty of reasons. Because I didn't know how it was supposed to work from reading it, and neither did Hong. Because immediate forced movement is clearly divided into three categories, and this doesn't fit any of them. Because it's different from how fear worked in 3e, and the above anomaly...

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

Another solid objection. I concede, my revised version is no good. Still, I maintain that the power is pretty darn unclear - it could really use an extra sentence or two explaining exactly how it works.

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

Good point - I hadn't thought of that. Still, that seems like a small price to pay for more clarity. Is it so ridiculous that magical fear might cause someone to run into a hazard (they still get the save), especially when the rogue can "lure" people into pits with fancy footwork in melee?

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

Okay, but can you back that up with evidence? If this is what it's supposed to do, I write a clearer power in about 4 seconds: Hit: The target provokes an OA from each creature which threatens it. You push the target it's speed plus your charisma modifier. Bam. 100 times better. Edit...

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but what the heck is going on with the cleric's 1st level power, Cause Fear? It's not a push, pull, or slide, so is it "forced movement" or not? When does the movement happen: the cleric's turn or the target's turn? Does the target have to use a move...

How does the wizard's shield power work?

Thanks. It's completely clear to me, the rules for interrupts are indisputable; now I've just got to convince the GM. (Or failing that, convince another player not to choose it!)

How does the wizard's shield power work?

So it's an immediate interrupt that triggers on a hit and adds to your defense for a round, right? Does the bonus apply to the attack that triggered it, or just to further attacks that round? It sure sounds like the latter, but if so, it's a piece of junk. The average wizard usually...

My Level 1 Warlord Character Sheet- Comments, please?

Armor Spec and Shield Spec won't stack as they both grant a feat bonus to AC. I guess they give some other benefits too, but the big one won't stack.

    Dragonborn Paladin starting stats

For the love of god, keep the 18 in str! I would drop your con down to 10 to add a point to Wis - the pally gets plenty of healing surges as it is.

What are the traps in char design to beware of?

Traps in character design? Not having at least 18 in your main stat hurts a LOT. Heck, not having the 20 hurts, but you can deal, but 16, or god forbid 15, would be madness. The phb should be much more emphatic about this.

    20% item resale value: impossible!

The rationalizations in this thread are utterly ridiculous! SteveC is totally right: the 1/5 sale price is for game balance, and has nothing to with anything else. Even the 1/2 from 3rd was on the low side. Wear and tear has never been an issue with D&D magic items - these are things...
