I agree with Meowzebub's idea to try to talk ourselves out of the situation. Kind has 0 spells left. He can use a spear, but not very well, especially against a treant.

I have been playing a campaign with two of my roommates. They have both been playing for quite a few years and would definitely be interested in playing an npc or joining the party.

I like the idea of geting the roleplaying experience only. It is fun to level up, but you want to actually go through each level with your main character. If you're suddenly a really high level, it isn't as much fun as actually gaining the experience it took to get there.
