D&D 5E Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Yeah, I'm not a fan of it either. It's generic floating heads, rather than anything that gives any kind of feeling as to what Eberron or the adventure contained is like. As overused as the Warforged hanging off a skyship over a lightning rail engine is, it at least gives you a crash course on...

D&D General What are your Pedantic Complaints about D&D?

Pikes. Their weight is borderline absurd for what the weapon provides in game terms.

D&D 5E Acquisitions, Inc.: First Impressions

I'll just be frank: I don't like Acq Inc. and even without the spells the impression I'm getting from talk of this book isn't making it sound like I should give it a shot. I know what I like in my games, and this book isn't it.

D&D 5E Acquisitions, Inc.: First Impressions

Honestly, looking at the spell section just affirmed for me it's not the kinda book I want. I hope it works well for those who do like AI or its content, though.

D&D 5E New survey from WotC about boxed sets

Greyhawk does have a lot of similarities with the FR, though I seem to recall Mystara got a little more weird materials progressed (though I dunno if most games really interacted with the weird stuff in Mystara.) That said, I do think that if WotC were to ever release them, they'd need more...

What lore from previous editions do you wish stayed?

I know Primordials are referred to as still existing in the Forgotten Realms modules (specifically Storm King's Thunder), but I think the Dawn War itself is mostly limited to the 4e pantheon being labelled as the "Dawn War Pantheon" in the DMG as its sample pantheon.

What lore from previous editions do you wish stayed?

The elemental chaos is still in 5e. If you travel far enough out in the inner planes, they start warping back into each other, and form into it.

What lore from previous editions do you wish stayed?

I never really played before 5e, so for the most part I'm fine with the current lore, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Quasielemental planes making a reappearance.

    The Overkill Damage Fallacy

Overkill to me seems like more a side issue than anything, and one of the less important parts of any sort of analysis. It seems to be context dependent, rather than an objective metric. Is that the point you're trying to make, or am I mistaken?

The D&D Multiverse needs a "Crisis on Infinite Oerths"

If I recall, that was how they ended 2nd Edition AD&D, via Die, Vecna, Die! At a minimum, its plotline combined Ravenloft, Greyhawk, and Planescape. I would think it'd be on the unpopular side, as a part of D&D's popularity is its legacy of many different worlds of different styles (even if...

D&D 5E The Final Announcement from The Descent Live Stream: Eberron Hardcover

Adding on with my own understanding of things: If I recall correctly when Mearls was explaining the plan on Twitter, the example he provided was that it'd have more emphasis on the Five Kingdoms and a reduced emphasis on Sharn relative to Wayfarer's.

Bet on Sunday’s ‘surprise’ D&D announcement

Yes, Bogart was in Falcon. The Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron is the 5e gateway to the setting of Eberron and should give you a decent sense of the atmosphere of Eberron. The mechanical aspects (races, magic items, the artificer) aren't quite finalized, so take those sections with a grain of salt.

Bet on Sunday’s ‘surprise’ D&D announcement

It's a neat setting that mixes magitech with more pulp action, and sometimes noir elements. The setting creator, Keith Baker, describes it as, "Lord of the Rings meets Indiana Jones and The Maltese Falcon." I like it a fair amount, but it's a setting that knows what it wants to be and leans into...

D&D 5E How do you handle the "economy killing spells" in your game?

A couple things limit magic breaking the economy entirely (mainly that unless you are a player character or a particularly wealthy noble, magic is really bloody expensive), though it does warp things in my setting. For Plant Growth and Fabricate specifically, there's a couple things going on...

Now You Can Have A D&D Notebook!

I would be highly surprised if this was taking the place of any game product. This is almost certainly just merchandising, for the people who're buying presents for relatives or acquaintances they don't know very well beyond the fact they're into D&D.
