D&D 4E [4e] Why not savor the PHB3? Major spoilers on the new races and classes.

Haven't seen anyone discussing this yet: The sample wizard and warlock have a superior implement, a crystal orb and a deathbone rod. Note that the wizard has a +7 modifier to attack and damage with 20 Int, and the warlock has +7 on will attacks and +6 on fort and ref attacks with 20 Char (and a...

School me in th art of Charging.

How about if I am around a corner and have already used my move action. I cannot charge? (What defines "directly"?) Me XXXX XXXX XXXX Him

    Drow overpowered?

Note that Drow were also considered superb clerics and never once had a wisdom bonus. Edit: Sorry, except for 2nd ed where I recall females having one. But not 3rd for sure.

    Con-Int Tieflings

I like it. Infernal wrath still makes as much sense as draconic heritage for dragonborn.

    HP Formula for Insubstantial monsters?

-2/role usually works for insubstantial and regenerating monsters (brute becomes 8/level+1, soldier 6/level+1, lurker 4/level+1 etc.)

    Insubstantial Monsters Hit Points

    Monsters with substantial or regeneration seem to be based on the formula of (level+1) X (role HP -2) + Con, so for example wraith (5+1) X (lurker 6-2) + 13 Con = 37 dread wraith (25+1) X (lurker 6-2) + 20 con = 124 wailing ghost (12+1) X (controller 8-2) + 13 con = 91 tormenting ghost (21+1) X...

Hexhammer (ZE GOGGLES ZEY DO NOTHING)

    Aha, point taken.

Hexhammer (ZE GOGGLES ZEY DO NOTHING)

The point would appear to be that when you hit an opponent with the hammer as a weapon (not as an implement), you still add your curse damage. Weapons other than a pact hammer do not allow you to do this, thus it is an added property.

    D&D 4E Stuff I wish they'd have left from the 4e playtest

According to Races and Classes, staff used to affect lines and cones, and indeed added a push effect to spells.

    D&D 4E Stuff I wish they'd have left from the 4e playtest

Amongst other things: Races grant benefits at levels 1-10 like paragon paths and epic destinies, and racial feats make an elf fighter and a dwarf fighter play very differently (Races and Classes, web previews) Wizard and fighter powers heavily dependant on weapon/implement and secondary...

    Mithrendain, Citadel of the Feywild

What, like the Shield of the Barrier Sentinels having a level 9 version and a level 29 version which do absolutely the same?

High HP feel a little too high?

Judging from the card backs in Dungeons of Dread and Against the Giants, monsters had less HP in earlier versions of the game (especially at higher levels and elites and solos). I can't quite figure out how they calculated them, but some monsters used to have as few as 30-50% HP (Shadow Hulk...

Fighter: Still the King of melee?

Reliable also isn't that big of a benefit, since you do nothing on a miss, other than keep your daily. Let's say the level 1 fighter misses his brutal strike twice and then finally hits on his third strike. Total damage over 3 rounds - 3W+Str. Had the ranger rolled exactly the same as the...

Death Saving Throws - Make a save = You live?

Though you kinda want to be taking those death saves slower, not faster (you'd have to make 2 in a round if a cleric gave you an extra save in a round)

    Collected Core Handbook Errata

DMG page 188 - Warlord's weapon proficiency: military ranged should be simple ranged.
