A few updates today.
There was a hearing. Not too much was mentioned that we can understand without context
For some reason, there is an order on record about the transcripts from Luke's attorney.
There's some discussion about a trial (either new or a continuation of the process), but...
Yeah, it's got to be something like that. It's not related to D&D as the other forums I've noticed are not as traffic-sensitive to the state of D&D that as ENWorld would be.
No problem. I just remember posting that three months ago, and not seeing any reactions or replies to that post, considering it was an important thing people wanted to know. So when you said "where's the will" I got kind of irritated.
(I've noticed most RPG message boards lately have less...
If you read the case log which you can do online, he did file. The publication date was delayed because the Will was only put into probate this year, so he did follow the procedural rules for the claims and filed it -- that's assuming he counts as a creditor.
I suspect the issue goes back to...
Unfortunately, that's not really something you will get a clear answer for, unless she decides to share it. You can analyze these documents over and over, but you'll never be able to read the minds of the people involved. You can only speculate that part.
To be honest, this thread is a lot...
A few quick observations.
All we know for certain is that the estate is in a neutral parties hands, and both this auction and the licensing of the IP is to pay for those fees. Nothing has been decided. The re-introduction of product is a temporary thing for now.
The judge mentioned...
You're right, I am guessing -- I guess it depends on what is handled via probate and what is mediated or what is handled by separate civil action. It could be something of mutual agreement, or it could come later. The biggest direct fees will involve the PR and discovery as they need to assess...
Keep in mind, there are potentially three attorney's involved -- the ones Luke hired, the ones Gail hired, and the court appointed executor who is also an attorney.
The case started in Spring of 2020. Back in 2008-2010, a case with some friends of mine with a trademark issue ended up costing...
I think the Will was clear and spelled out, based on what others have said. The only flaw you could argue on Gary's end is it not being filled or handed over to an attorney in advance.
You're making an assumption that Gary was mostly interested in pleasing his licensees or thought of his IP or...
There's a thread with more details. It's a lot more complex than you'd think...

Regarding the will -- I doubt it, unless there was a change in plan that was never notarized.
The IP question to me is complex.
Do I think Gary would have expected what happened to happen? No, I doubt it.
Do I think Gary would have been okay with his designated heirs doing whatever they...
