The problem is D&D Beyond has always said they will digitally update anything to the latest version for free. I get not giving away the book and potentially new info on how to calculate CR but the stats blocks should be updated gratis.

Agreed and I think it was because it was Mike Meals baby, he was working on a bit of it on stream before. I don't think they wanted to release another book with his name on it.

Well yeah of course they can't I mean they could have asked them not do that or offer financial benefit to not do so. I was more saying if they were let go vs. they decided to quit. If they all three decided to quit on the same day that would highly unusual unless there was something going on...

Something happened there, no sane company would let the three top faces of the company announce they are leaving on the same day. It would make much more sense to stagger it out a bit even if they were trying to save money.
