D&D 5E Limiting use of cantrips - what are the consequences?

Necessary? It seems like you are trying to 'fix' a problem that isn't there, 5e is already 'low magic' by default. (as in, less magic items, fewer spells, the concentration mechanic, etc) Giving a high (10+) number of daily uses for cantrips should result in essentially no difference than the...

D&D 5E The Dark Knight: Shadow Sorcerer + Vengeance Paladin + Winged Tiefling variant

There is no 'could' about it, the winged tiefling is definitely banned in adventure league. Also, most of the classes you've selected are banned too, No 'Unearthed Arcana' allowed either.

D&D 5E Question: Beast Companion and Barding Armor

Question 1: No it does not. You'd use the beasts natural armor (if any), 'or' that of the barding, whichever is better. In your example, the wolf would have 16 AC: 14 for scale mail, and +2 for it's Dexterity bonus. Question 2: Probably yes. The bonus the wolf receives from the ranger is added...

D&D 5E Out of the Abyss: Underdark as Favored Terrain

I appreciate the spoiler-free reply. In response to your comment however: Doesn't a DM 'want' his or her party to survive their module, so wouldn't something that assists with that be a 'good' thing?

D&D 5E Optimizing a Gnome Beastmaster Ranger for tanking.

I'd say it is well worth the ASI, but that is up to you. I guess it boils down to: How partial are you to 'this' frog, which you've spent so much time adventuring with and decked out in armor and such. If you want him to live forever, go with Mounted Combatant. If you feel you can easily replace...

D&D 5E Out of the Abyss: Underdark as Favored Terrain

I find the benefits of Favored Terrain to be situational at best even if it's 'always on' so to speak. I am currently playing a deep gnome ranger with the outlander background who has Underdark selected for Favoured Terrain in the current season of adventure league. I haven't found it to be...

D&D 5E Optimizing a Gnome Beastmaster Ranger for tanking.

The best advice I could have given (prior to you indicating you'd already taken a level 4 feat) is this: 'have you considered 'mounted combatant'?' it really is night and day on wether or not your 16 HP frog gets one-shotted out from under you by a lucky crit., vs. you just tank the damage using...

    Adamantine and Mithral

"As a crafting activity, can he mine Mithral or Adamantine?" - No How about gems? - No If so how would he go about that? - They cannot, so this is moot. "If he gains proficiency with smith's tools, could he both mine materials and forge/upgrade his own gear? Not talking about enspelling...

D&D 5E Magic Initiate Feat Debate!

I second the: "The feat grants the ability to cast the spell once per long rest. It does not grant an additional spell slot of any kind." approach. Granting the ability cast a spell once a day normally would require a spell slot in which to cast it (and less relevantly, require casting ability...

    Warforged Arcane Caster Woes

the 'Battle Sorcerer' sorcerer substitution class from Unearthed arcana would work for you. You'd have to be a sorcerer, but you'd have (among other things) a cleric HD and BAB, and the ability to ignore spell failure from light armor. (hint: invest in the mithril body feat) You lose a spell...

    PRC's for Familiars

Bonded Summoner turns your familar into a medium elemental of your choice, eventually topping out at turning it into a huge elder elemental. You do get some fun benefits as well like gaining various aspects of elemental-hood, eventually gaining the ability to turn into an elder elemental...

can celestial armor be given the mithral property?

And that is a perfectly reasonable viewpoint; one which i can agree with. I tend to say though that everything magical and mundane in the core books exists 'as is' for the players in my group to look for and know about. Anything non-core has to pass my inspection before it even exists in game...

can celestial armor be given the mithral property?

That is another good point, in the description of the armor it states that it's either gold or silver. One could reasonably infer from this that in order to create celestial armor you must use silver or gold, not mithril or some other variety of metal for that matter.

can celestial armor be given the mithral property?

I suppose you and I have differing opinions of "Plenty Powerful" but our personal opinions are just that (just our personal opinions), so i'll leave it at that.

can celestial armor be given the mithral property?

That is where i disagree: the magical properties of any given specific magic item are as integral if not more so to it's functionality than it's material in my opinion. The problem as i see it is that a specific magic item (say, the absorbing shield) isn't the same as a +1 shield, it is much...
