    Calling All Canadians!

Hey Folks, I'm from Dartmouth NS, lived there all my life. Proudest moment in Canadian History: 2002 Salt Lake City Hockey Gold, that was my 1972 (not old enough to be alive then) number 2 would be the 1972 Summit Series.

Combats -- Good til the last (corpses) drop?

The one thing that I didn't like about 3.0/3.5 is that they didn't have any kind of moral rolls in the core books. We found them in the miniatures handbook but 2nd Ed had a good, if not confusing moral system. People should run away unless there are some sort of extenuating circumstances.

    Your opinion on god killing?

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the situation. In the right world, it would be ok, but in a world like the Realms or Greyhawk, you don't stand a chance. Have you read the rules for gods in the Deities and Demigods book? They are pretty powerful, and even if you had a character of...

    Good Swashbuckling D&D Type Game?

Swashbuckling Adventures d20 is a great game, I'm currently leading a group with it right now and another group I'm in wants me to start it in a few weeks for them. It's a lot of fun to play, but the rules can get abused by power gamers easily. There are a lot of feats and prestige classes...

    Campaign Handouts

There are a few things. If the DM is using a new, homebrewed campaign world, maybe a world map or even just a map of the local area detailing major countries/cities/land-marks etc. In addition to this, some history about the world as well as some popular legends etc. Something that everyone...

    Wizard Advice for New DM

To echo some of the others statements, that is your problem right there. Hes never had to grow any character, let alone a Wizard, from the infant stages of a character, being 1st and 2nd level. The last Wizard I played started at 2nd level and he grew to 10th or 11th before the game ended. It...

How to make a swamp a unique environment?

I'd definatly limit their movement. Let them know that they are ankle to knee deep in muck. Also, I'd make anyone trying to move more than a single move take a balance check to prevent from tripping over something or slipping on something. I wouldn't make it an insane check, maybe only DC 5...

Which DnD culture is the most likely to do this?

Cause there is nothing more embarassing than being enslaved by a bunch of Kobolds. Try it though, I bet it would turn out fun :)

Which DnD culture is the most likely to do this?

I'd go with drugear for a few reasons. 1) Mind Flayers are too powerful for a 4th-5th level party to deal with en mass. Even one mind flayer with a bunch of unlucky saves would fall to a basic mind flayer. 2) Drow are overused. Every one thinks of them as the typical underdark bad guy...

dumbest thing a character has survived

In a Swashbuckling Adventures game about a year back I was playing a Swashbuckler, we're being attacked by a pirate ship and they have pulled along side to board us. They have two cannons on deck and I saw them being loaded with grape shot. I get away from the guy I'm fighting and pull out my...

    Is this min maxing?

I suppose it is min/maxing in a way, but I don't see what the big deal is with making a fighter type character who is good at the style of fighting that they do. Ask them if you should trade in some of those feats for Power Attack and Combat Expertise and maybe Improved Bull Rush. Even though...

Moments you live for in D&D gaming

I love it when the clever plan that you spent the last 2 hours working out fails on the first round and the rest is just improvised. Win or loose, its a hell of a lot of fun to improvise when stuff hits the fan like that. Other things... Seeing the look on the DMs face (and the villians) when...

I'll met you at the gate in an hour?

A lot of people have made points that I use. Large clocks in cities, most people could tell the time from the sun (approx, you don't know when its 8:57 from 9:04, but its close enough) Another trick I used when travelling through the underdark, my Wizard was able to keep track of the time by...

How do you record your game sessions?

For me, it all depends on the type of character I'm playing. One was a Wizard who was interested in knowledge. I was always taking notes and a few days after the game I would usually write out a brief review of what happened. One day I'll write it up as more of a story than what we had. One...
