What rules and mechanics from other systems would you like to import into your 5e games?

Yeah this is another good mechanic from that system and I think it’s a good alternative to inspiration. Just call it something like “Hero points” that any player can use for advantage and “vaillain points” for the GM. I also like how it can be used as a resource to modify the narrative. “Oh...

What rules and mechanics from other systems would you like to import into your 5e games?

I’ve wanted to adapt the minion rules from FFG Star Wars/edge of the empire but I haven’t figured out a good way to do it yet. I love how the effectiveness/threat is easily scaled up or down based on the number in the group and running them as a single “unit” really speeds up encounters...

    D&D 5E Skyrim supplement for D&D 5e

Good stuff! I've messed around with the same idea but never got far. I especially like what you've done with the shouts, they seem true to the source and reasonably balanced. A couple of notes/changes I'd make based on my attempts: 1) Birth signs(Warrior/Mage/Thief etc.) as a...

D&D 5E Fifth Age: A hard science fiction 5e conversion

love it! This looks like it'll be a good fit for a home brew sci-fi setting I've been thinking of. I like what you did with the human and robot sub races and holy moly that's a lot of backgrounds. Everything fits well and it's all wonderfully thematic. I'm interested in what you'll do for...

    D&D 5E GWM/SS alternative mechanics to the -5/+10 bonus?

I'm leaning in this direction, same basic mechanics just toned down a bit. Still worth giving up an ASI for in my opinion.

D&D 5E How do you keep your players going from "goblins to gods" in your games?

I've had a house rule for hit point advancement bouncing around my head for a while that might help. Characters only gain 1+Con mod HP per level (minimum of 1). Characters still have the normal amount of hit dice available to use during short rests. Bounded accuracy means low level monsters...

D&D 5E How often do you use the versatile property?

Yeah, seems like most replies are about using it one way or the other but not so much switching between. All the options for specializing one or two handed are quite good so you miss out on a lot if you don't use them or have to invest a lot to get the best of both.

D&D 5E How often do you use the versatile property?

Makes sense if it's all you've got but what did you mean by half str? Is that a house rule or did I miss something about versatile weapons(away from my books atm)

D&D 5E How often do you use the versatile property?

Ahh, I hadn't considered monks. I suppose that's the only way for them to deal1d8 at the beginning right? Sword and board users losing their shield was the main use I had thought of but lots of them have the dueling fighting style so they're better off sticking with it 1-handed. I love it...

D&D 5E How often do you use the versatile property?

Like the title says, I was wondering how often the versatile property is used. I don't think it's ever come up at my table and I can't think of a reason to use it regularly. So what sort of character would want to use the versatile property, have any of you played as/with such a character and...
