I have not played these classics. I'm an excited noob right now. Will pick up to DM, but I wish I could experience some of these as a player instead :(
It doesn't happen too much but tbh, since D&D is an open-ended game (which makes it awesome), it definitely happens. It will happen more frequently if you throw in your own cool homebrew powers, items, etc as well.
But the nice part about Fantasy Grounds is that is FLEXIBLE to handle this...
I switched from Roll20 to Fantasy Grounds since DMing on Roll20 is more work.
I think I prefer it since the automation features are so nice. Speed of play is extremely fast once you get over the learning curve (kinda steep). Right now, for my group, its faster than face-to-face games, so that's...
Urg... this thread is getting me restless with the great ideas...
It'd be so cool if there was an expanded martial system that'd give me both the strategic power selection consideration when leveling, and the expanded tactical options during combat that spell casters get. I think it makes a lot...
I have a usability question regarding ball bearings. In my head I wanted to drop these while making it difficult for pursuers to catch me. But since it takes an entire action to empty a bag, can't the enemy catch up using 1/2 speed, then dash for 1/2 speed, matching my movement speed?

Thanks a lot for your input. This seems really valuable and seemingly learned through experience. Man...I'm getting excited for the possibilities. I'm gonna read it multiple times to internalize it.
I think I will use the same setting as in the starter set, but make it my...
Oh wow, lots of stuff in the replies.

When you mention the player's drawning their own maps, do you mean have the players play cartographer based on what they experience? I mean...if this works, it could be an amazing way to engage the players while reducing my work!
How would...
Hi everyone.
New to the board and a newish DM.
I started to reply to the HotDQ Sandbox thread, but it got too big so here I go:
SANDBOX ADVENTURES:
I REALLY want to run a sandbox adventure for once. I've seen a video of the guys at RollPlay and the way they play blows my mind. TBH, the only...
