The dense foliage obscures much from the dragonling's view. Draco does however spot a what appears to be a scrap of chainmail armor on the muddy slope at L11 and communicates this finding to his master.

Ferris grimly pulls out his battleaxe and affixes his shield firmly to his arm.

Jezebel glances at where Alnar points. She then looks to the mage again.

"I do not care for the situation. A piece of chainmail with no owner, lying deep within the forest? Were I to try ambushing someone, that is exactly the kind of bait I would lay. Let me have a look around before we examine the armor."

She keeps her shield and whip at the ready and advances to the side of the clearing opposite the mud slick. She checks the bushes and waterfall for ambushers.

[sblock=actions]I assume Jezebel keeps her shield and whip ready when traveling, as long as it's not in a populated area (and maybe even then).

Move: walk to L19.

Jezebel moves over to where the dragonling is hovering. Her search of the mangrove cluster nearest the river and of the falls yields nothing. However, the clanking of her plate armor seems to have disturbed something living in the large tree on the muddy slope. A family of stirges swoops down to attack.

[sblock=Combat!]I need initiative checks from everyone now. Please post your stat blocks as well. We will be using simplified initiative rules, in which all the players act together and all the monsters act together. We'll take the highest initiative roll of the players and the highest initiative roll of the baddies to see which group acts first. Then, your actions will resolve in the order in which you post them. Please let me know if you need any clarification.

Baddies initiative: (1d20+7=9, 1d20+3=18) = 18

The stirges will get a surprise round at the beginning of combat.[/sblock]
