Have you ever been to Walt Disney World?

"Have a zippity do dah day, sir! Have a zippity do dah day!"

That made me laugh. Well done sir.

Check this out:

Two things I always liked about Walt Disney, and Disney World. First, the emphasis on multi-sensory experience, and on harmonizing different or multiple sensory experiences into a single grand experience. Often it seemed to me he was trying to create artificial synaesthetic experiences.

Secondly, he was a futurist when it came to technology, and often you used to could see things popping up at Disneyworld which were years if not decades ahead of their time. Don't know if that's true anymore, but it was definitely part of Disney's character and make-up. His worldview, and I like that kinda thing myself. He was a genius.

Nope, and I can't imagine I ever will! When I can afford foreign holidays, it's hardly in the top 100 list of destinations! :)

I always wanted to go as a kid, but knew it would never happen.

As an adult... I doubt if I'll even go to Disneyworld Paris, to be honest. Too many potential holiday destinations, not enough time!

I haven't been for a long time (at least 20 years) so I know lots has changed in the speciifcs, but i'd imagine the same general stuff/atmosphere etc is still there.
It's fun and relaxing and it is a place that you will have memories of for a longtime (presuming you're an old enough child to remember things).

haunted mansion and snow whites ride and space mountain are the ones that immediately come to mind as ones i liked and would want to ride again.

Having said that, i still recall that my one main problem is the line waiting... maybe i was impatient as a child.. but for some reason i always recall the lines as being an hour or more. if/when i went again, i'd probably try to schedule it such that it wasn't peak middle of summer time...

I went for the first time last year. My mother in-law bought the tickets for the whole family as part of my sister in-laws wedding.

I only had enough vacation (and money) to spare for a week, and we spent 3 days in Clear Water, then over to Disney, where I only had 2 days.

The first day was at the main park, with the whole family. Which meant gritchy in-inl-aws, plus general slowness for the gaggle of kids (I have no kids).

So the second day, me and my wife split off and went to EpCot.

Much more fun.

We rode Mission to Mars twice, and thanks to a co-worker who told me this, employees of the sponsor company of the ride could go in a side door and bypass the line, and they had a cool sitting room with free drinks and printers to print out photos.

I might have had more fun, sans some people, and more time and money. It didn't help that my car blew a rod the night before the trip at work, making me late getting home to pack, plus having to worry about funding a replacement engine.

I went when I was nine years old. My stepfather (or rather, at the time, my mum's BF) went to Florida for a job for a few months and we came and stayed with him in Fort Lauderdale over the summer. We did a lot of things, but Disney World was definitely the highlight. It was awesome.

But the lines, man, the lines!

A little less than two years ago, my wife, my kids (aged 8 and 10 at the time) and I went to Disney World for our 10th wedding anniversary.

We stayed for a week in August. It was very hot, but otherwise the weather was nice, and it was perhaps the slowest time of year so the line waiting wasn't usually too bad (they also have a new system that let's you get an advance ticket for a ride for a particular time window, which greatly reduces line waiting).

We spent the extra money to stay at one of the mid-level resorts on site, and also signed up for the meal plan. We felt it worth the extra expense... We didn't have to worry about anything. We were shuttled from the airport directly our hotel, and all of our luggage was waiting in our room for us. Busses and trains took us anywhere we wanted to go, and we could eat at any restaurants we wanted to. We even went so far as to make reservation at Cinderella's Castle for dinner on our anniversary night.

We had a pretty laid-back time of it. We simply picked a park for the day, and went on the rides we felt like riding. Very relaxed.

We enjoyed it immensely. I know it's the epitome of kitchy Americana, but it was fun and made for some great memories.

Attached is us on the Teacups... We were going really fast.

Yes. In fact, I was just there last month. I like Epcot the best, but the Kilimanjaro Safari is a great "ride." Fastpass is a wonderful creation. It's like a ride reservation, and free to boot. Look into staying on site. You don't have to worry about parking and a different park opens early and stays open later each day for resort guests.

Getting lost in fantasy maps
I have been there. About 15 years ago as part of a trip to central Florida I stopped there. I loved the place. The entire trip however was a vacation disaster of epic proportions. So many things went wrong that many people think I either made things up or I exaggerated. Even the Disney resorts weren't off limits to my run of bad luck.

That said, Walt Disney World was memorable and I can't wait to go back without a black cloud of epic tragedy following me.
