Updates and Fun Stuff for any Game World

Since my last post here, I'm happy to announce the Calidar Kickstarter reached its second stretch goal, which means the project will yield a second poster map. The first represents a satellite-like rendition of the Great Caldera, while the next is a hex map centered on the Kingdom of Meryath, very much in the style of the old D&D Gazetteers.

A new add-on was also listed enabling backers to obtain extra copies of the book at a lower price.

A new and fun article was posted on the blog about Calidaran dwarvish "common", but in truth this can be used in any campaign world in need of an alternate language. People have been talking back to me in dwarvish since then.

If you want to support this project and have your name printed in the book -- the very first in the new Calidar series -- now's your opportunity to do so. There can only be ONE first book. It's now or never!

NEW STRETCH GOAL

Happy New Year 2014.jpg

The Calidar team has the pleasure of announcing a new stretch goal. Since we're getting close to unlocking the third goal, with less than $400 needed and a week still to go, a new milestone now becomes possible.

$15,500: Ship Profiles

Five full-page color ship profiles by Ben Wootten will be included in the book, with performance statistics and text descriptions. They will include the Star Phoenix, Eternal Glory, Wind Thorn, Scion of Kragdûr, and Queen’s Fury. Click Here for the project: http://kck.st/1bxqSgl

Save for the Star Phoenix starring in the main storyline, the other four skyships are introduced in the promotional short stories and will emerge once more, either as part of the episode "In Stranger Skies" or a later one. Pass the word to friends you know will be interested. The more of you back this project, the better the chances this extra goal (or another one yet) will be met.

Short Story Episode 12 -- In the Belly of the Beast -- was recently posted. Another four are planned. Click here for the short stories' listing.

Until then, the Calidar team thanks all of you and wishes everyone a

Approaching the Fourth Stretch Goal

pathfinder-4-posterized.png

Since the last update, the World of Calidar has met its third stretch goal, which includes additional coverage for the Kingdom of Meryath, as well as a guide to help adapt the setting to the Pathfinder game! Thomas M. Reid, former TSR editor and game designer, has stepped up to the task of putting together these guidelines.

The kickstarter is now in its finals days, ending January 10th. So far, it has flown past the 200% backing level and is approaching it fourth stretch goal. This latter milestone will unlock five color plates by artist Ben Wootten representing skyship archetypes of Calidar, including the Star Phoenix, the Draconic Knights' Queen Fury, the Alorean elves' Wind Thorn, the Kragdûras dwarves' Scion of Kragdûr, and the Eternal Glory, royal flagship from the Kingdom of Meryath. Cartographer Thorfinn Tait has posted an excellent article about Ben, which is listed here.

If you've been holding back, now is the time to jump in and get your name printed in the book's Honor Roll, before the kickstarter campaign ends. There can only be one "first book" in this unusual series.

Will you miss this unique opportunity?

3D Deck Plans?

[h=2] Project Update #18: Adding a New Stretch Goal! [/h] Posted by Bruce Heard ♥ Like Since we're now fast approaching the happy moment when Stretch Goal #4 is met, time has come to address the very next step. There are now two days left before the end of this Kickstarter, which opens one more door:

[h=1]$18,000: Skyship Deck Plans[/h] At this level, a blend of 2D and 3D black-and-white deck plans are a possibility. This is a tentative stretch goal as details are still being worked out. At the very least three skyships will receive the treatment, including, of course, the Star Phoenix. Announcements will be forthcoming with relevant backing. Many thanks to all of you for making this fantasy project a solid reality!
Having said this, I'd like to also thank all of you who've come up these past few days to bump Calidar up to this new height. At the risk of being a nag, I'll remind all of you who made a straightforward pledge without an add-on that the project offers two poster maps, one of which is part of your reward at First Mate level and above. If you are in this category, please understand that this second poster map, which came about as the result of unlocking Stretch Goal #2, can only be obtained as an add-on. The second poster map is the one representing the Kingdom of Meryath in Gazetteer-style hex grid format.

Cheers!

Bruce

LAST DAY and FLYING HIGH!

Greetings to everyone,

Deck Plans: It is with a mix of pride and sadness that I see the end of this Kickstarter fast approaching. Today is the last day. We've done well. There is still time to snag some funding for snazzy deck plans illustrating the skyships. These are tied to the last Stretch Goal at $18,000. There is now less than $1K left to actually reach it. Will we succeed? (Suspense...) We might during this last and fateful day!

Dread Lands: To accompany this announcement, I've also released the last publicly posted short story: World Souls. The next one (Episode 16) will part of the promotional PDF provided exclusively to you at Airman and higher pledge levels. Click HERE for this episode which reveals mysterious aspects of Calidar's Dread Lands.

Poster Map: One last call regarding that extra poster map. If you have made a pledge at First Mate level or above without any add-ons, please understand that the second poster map which came with Stretch Goal #2 is not included in your pledge. This is the one that depicts the Kingdom of Meryath in Gazetteer-style hex grid format. To remedy this, you can manually update the amount of your pledge to include the value of that extra poster map and any additional postage to ship outside the USA. Just click the "Manage Your Pledge" button, and go from there!

Thanks to all! This was a glorious experience!

WOW!

fireworks.jpg

We did good with The World of Calidar's Kickstarter. We topped $19,000 funding or more than 300% of the initial goal. What a thrill. There are now less than two hours before the official end of the crowd funding session (10:00 am US Central time) to adjust your pledges and secure that extra Gazetteer map, or jump in if you haven't yet.

Contact me if you missed the boat but would still like to be involved.

Happy cheers & thanks to all!
