ZG #11 (4e) Concerns

Elfshire

First Post
Hi, I just got my free download of ZG#11, and I have some concerns about elements that seem to be missing/erroneous...

  1. There is no monster stat block for "critic angel swarms."
  2. There is no monster stat block for Ashima-Shimtu. :( :( :(
  3. (a minor issue) Hezophiel's stat block says that creatures in his aura automatically fail death saves... but since Ostea still has influence over the world, no living creatures will be making death saves by default.

Also - why does Esurientes get stronger over the "timeline of executions" in PF, but not in 4e?

1. The adventure was written in PF, so I kept the statblock that was created for the swarm in that version, even though it was not a threat at all. For the 4e version, I didn't want to include a foe too weak to harm the party, so I just gave them a narrative presence, not a mechanical one.

2. Similar to above, I chose not to remove stats that Liz Courts created for the PF version, but I chose not to include an "alternate final boss." She was never intended to be a physical threat, but rather a moral conundrum.

3. Good point. It should, I suppose, read as "Creatures in the aura that begin their turn with 0 or fewer hit points count as failing a death saving throw, even if they normally would not need to make one."

4. It's far easier to add a bunch of abilities to a foe in Pathfinder because the function of all those spells and powers is spelled out in the core rules. 4e creature powers almost always need to be fully written out, so I just picked the things I thought were most interesting and made them part of the default dragon statblock.

It's referenced in side-note "Evil demon" on page 49, though, as included in Appendix. Just something to correct to compilation, I guess...
2OP, if I were to stat her, you can probably start from Lolth stat-block from MM3 and go from there

Sooo I had too much time on my hands, and with a help of Certain Program That Should Not Be Named I made a full stat-block. Note that I completely agree that A-S should not be a combat foe, but this was a good exercise, I think. Tell me what you think of the result!

Edit: Holy mother of Triegenus, this is one long stat-block
Edit2: reformatted a bit

Knowing my players, there's almost no way I won't end up needing this stat block. Thanks so much! I may make some minor tweaks, but this is a huge help. You're awesome.

I think I made her a bit too invincible with both bonus to defenses from Shield of Lies and penalty to attacks from Demonic Presence, especially since the party is only lvl 25. On the other hand, my own game is only entering paragon, and I have no idea of what epic level characters are capable of...
