Hey friends! I’m looking for parties interested in trying out an online product we’re working on. It’s called Chartopia and it’s used to create a single place for any random table you could imagine using as a DM or a player. We've been and right now we’re trying it out en masse.
You can create your own random tables for yourself, or share them for anyone to use, tracking how popular it is by how many times it’s been rolled on. You can also curate your personal lists of favourite tables to roll on so they’re always at hand.
Right now there’s some great stuff for Star Wars, a lot of 5e-friendly stuff including some of the tables from Curse of Strahd and Hoard of the Dragon Queen (with more coming soon!).
and you can find it over at http://www.d12dev.com. There’s also A Playtesting Group over on Facebook that you can join.
It’s a work in progress so we’d love to hear what you have to say about this. Thanks so much!

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like this could really use a simpler way to create nested tables. It seems like would take about 30 individually-named tables to implement something like this mission generator, with no clear indication which one is the main table that people are supposed to use.

Iron Sky, what a great addition. Thanks for contributing. :D The more the merrier!

This is a very involved table! I like it! The nested tables (we call them linked tables) can be set private, with only the main table set public, so you have all the background information you need. You can also put lesser details in smaller rollable lists (it's the last feature when you create the table). This is really getting into some advanced stuff so I appreciate it's not that intuitive; we're working on a series of tutorials that might be arriving soon! Right now I'm going to have a crack at recreating this to show you how it might appear.

So Designbot, thanks for the challenge. I had a crack at it and using the lists as I said, I only required three linked/nested tables! Granted all I was doing was copy-and-pasting a pre-existing table, but it took me about 45 minutes. There might need to be some kinks that get ironed out, but still, Check it out!

Hey, great. Thanks! That inline roll thing helps a lot.

I noticed a couple of areas for improvement:

It seems to have some trouble parsing parentheses. For instance, this rule:

Test ([test;test])

Resolves as:

Test test)

It would be great if you could do nested inline rolls, like:

**Extraction ([Voluntary;Involuntary]):** [Jail;Prison camp;Private prison;Prisoner of war;From employment ([corporation;crown]),Natural disaster,From hostile forces ([Tower;Dungeon;Jail Camp;Building])]

The instructions for "Insert Rollable List" say "Insert a semicolon separated list," but the provided examples are comma-separated.

There should be a link to test & view the results of the table from the edit page.

When the results are displayed as a sentence, there is no space after the column heading:

Moving tables into folders doesn't seem to work (clicking the button to select a folder doesn't do anything).

The instructions for creating an inline roll imply that you can specify a number of times to roll, but the equation editor requires you to include a die, so instead of just saying "2", you have to fake it as "2d1".

It would be great if there was a way to roll multiple times on a table, discarding duplicate results.

Hi, everyone. Glenn from d12dev (the one's making Chartopia). I would like to bump this post in part because I want to share more about all the new features of Chartopia, but also because, as a new poster, I need to get my post count to I'm-not-a-spammer levels.

That, despite the fact that I'm trying to plug Chartopia, so the irony isn't lost on me.

I'd like to share that there has been a huge amount of progress with our own "flavour" of random table / random generator creation and encourage you all to check it out if you haven't done so recently (if at all).

We're differentiating Chartopia in two ways.
* First is the social aspect of it. We're trying to grow a community of creators and for that reason the site has search and sharing tools. We intend to add to this with comments, follows and notifications (future plan stuff)
* Management tools. Tagging, folders, export tools. Heaps of useful features to help organise your massive collections.

* The editor has undergone a massive refresh lately, with more improvements to come. In some ways, it's a little more wordpress-esque but optimised for random tables.
* There are a lot more language features for randomization, with more to come. Check out the docs page with a low down.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
