M16 is Renwick's lab, M17 is an adjoining room, a once magnificent bed chamber, now contains only a rotting bed and moth eaten sheets. The stairs leading down, lead to a locked door. Renwick seems hesitant to allow you in there. "There is only an empty tomb, there is another door to the lower chambers of the monastery and the mines, but it has long been stuck."

"Oh no, I'm not interested in your condition, or the powers that got you to your current state. I'm more interested in the extent of your research. I am fascinated by knowledge. For example the tunnels you speak of that extend below this complex are actually the remnants of an ancient dwarven city. It's truly fascinating."

"Thanks for book, If I find something interesting to read I shall find a way to get it to you."

“Have you seen, perhaps, anyone who was not a monk here at all?” Errol asked Renwick. “Prisoners, perhaps? A delegation from Mirabar was captured recently, and we have reason to believe these monks are involved. But we will bother you no further,” he promised, though he glanced at the stairs leading down.

OOC: I vote Ilvellious for the amulet. He’s a front liner without armor, since the druid won’t benefit in animal form.

I have not, I rarely look outside my tower. Some time ago one man arrived, Marlos if I recall correctly. We spoke briefly then I returned to my studies and he lived in the rest of the monastery. Gradually more and more people arrived, though there are some monstrous creatures as well. I have not seen Marlos for some time, but a woman named Hellenrae has visited me more often recently. She would very much like me to join her. Prisoners would most likely be kept below. There are some tombs and dungeons before one arrives at the mines.

Errol listened carefully and nodded. “Marlos and Hellenrae,” he said. “What is the quickest and safest way to these dungeons?” he asked Renwick. “Down there?” He pointed to the stairs leading down from the chamber.

Renwick is quiet for a long time then says; "You seem to want to avoid conflict, I can respect that. Through the door is a tomb, I will not have it desecrated and ransacked. There are two doors leading out but both are stuck from many years of non-use. Opening them may be noisy."

With your word to respect the dead in the tomb, Renwick heads towards the door, pausing just long enough to say something you can't quite make out, he opens the door. Louder this time he says, "Let them past."

This barrel-vaulted chamber is obviously an ancient crypt. Roughly 100 foot wide and half as long, at a guess you would say it extends slightly past the wall of the garden above. Niches along the walls hold dozens of old skeletons, some with scraps of burial cloth still clinging to their bones. There is a door to the south, next to the staircase you came down, and a door to the west. At the east end of the crypt
stands a magnificent, open stone sarcophagus, carved in the image of a noble human knight with a long white beard.

GM: I'm assuming you have some sort of light source by now. Renwick's chamber and the tomb are in complete darkness. Going forward,
let me know how you are going about seeing in the dark as it becomes important.
