Be sure to update us when you do arrive at anew version, vivsavage. Ideally supply a change log too. Thanks!

Yes, this is excellent but the cold immunity doesn't make sense within the flavor text. She wouldn't need animals to stay warm and wouldn't need to stay in the cave during the winter. You could downgrade the cold immunity to cold resistance and bring back the lightning immunity. Just say that lightning is sucked into the shambling mound part (even if it doesn't regenerate her).

Okay, I've made several changes based on the excellent suggestions in this thread:
- The summoning of swamp creatures references the Monster Manual without giving full stat blocks. The type of creatures she summons are rolled on a table. She can summon the creatures once per day whenever she feels threatened (DM choice).
- She has resistance to cold, fire, and lightning. She does not have any immunities.
- She can opt to hurl a grappled creature rather than engulf it.
- If she engulfs a creature she intends to keep, the damage is minimized
- She has swamp camouflage
- In winter, she has damage resistance against bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing attacks due to an icy layer over her body.
- Her movement in winter is slower than in other seasons. bRoGVRH.jpg

Your updates are great, and again the art is excellent.

At the risk of making you lose your patience, can I just ask you for how long you envision her keeping any play-mates alive? As a purely story-telling question, I mean.

I'm asking because the mechanics mean that any creature weak enough to become -and stay- engulfed by her will die in minutes.

After all, even a fairly strong creature (with 40 hp) only lasts 40 rounds, or six minutes, even we assume exceptionally low damage rolls on her part.

Again, I'm not saying this is a mistake. Just not seeing what the practical difference between "full" damage and "playmate" damage will be, story wise...

Not to impose, but if, say, you made engulfed creatures make a Con save every hour or gain one level of exhaustion, that would make the mechanics support a wider range of stories. I'm thinking of cases where her playmate lives long enough to tell Molly something significant. It feels rushed if the mechanics dictate that any conversation must take place in just a minute or two, or they need to be strong to break out of her engulf, in which case they're probably threatening enough she needs to attack them fully or risk defeat herself.

Maybe I'm overthinking things, and don't feel compelled to change anything you feel confident you like the way it is.

Regards,

No, you're not overthinking things. This aspect has been an issue for me as well. I do want there to be a chance that the victim will die, so that when Paddy disgorges, she might throw a fit of rage or sorrow. I think the solution might be to have the victim make a DC 10 Con save or take a point of nonlethal damage for each minute (?) it is inside her. I'm clarifying the text to make it clear that she doesn't swallow these "keepers" all the way to her digestive system, but keeps them in her "throat." Still thinking about it...

I really appreciate your feedback and ideas. This is why I posted here.
