D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

I am really not sure about that.

It is a special weekend:

Easter Weakend
Mario's first weekend

I'd not write it off so fast.

A little bit disappointing. But I'd still wait and see.

It's not gonna get any better though. The drop off rate might but next week will make less money than this weekend.

If that numbers accurate it's not good. We're now looking at outright flop.

Except international sales exploded.
It's at 124 million after two weeks

How are those not good?

Most income of a movie apparently is made in first three weeks.

Outside that launch window the numbers drop dramatically. Have a look at any movie released 4 weeks ago basically a week before John Wick.

They need to hot somewhere north of 300 million. To break even. Sure there's other numbers but the box office still most important number.

On those numbers it's a flop its gonna take 3 weeks to get to its budget and it needs double that at least due to it's 151 million budget.

Sure there's other numbers to plug in but it will be reported as a flop on those numbers. Even the perception of a flop is bad enough for the D&D brand they're pushing combined with the lack of a hit game as well.

Right now there's a 100 million (give or take) hole they're have to make up somewhere else. It could be as high as 150 million or around a whole years worth of D&D revenue (not profit).

Sure they might make that indirectly (merch, streaming etc) but it's still a large chunk of money one way or another.

No those numbers are good. Making your budget back in the first week is not required to be a hit.

It's not, but it doesn't seem likely the movie will come close to making back it's budget plus marketing with the theatrical run. Big budget movies like Honor Among Thieves are expected to turn a decent profit, not break even or eventually crawl to profitability with streaming/TV/VOD sales.

Unless Hasbro is selling massive amounts of merchandise for the movie, or this is surprise huge hit on VOD I don't expect to see a sequel.

As the Hollywood press continue to call it a success, you continue to insist they are saying it flopped

I'm looking at the box office, Hollywood press are puff pieces. They're opinion pieces.

Are there any recent ones you're referring to? Recent as in last few days? If this keeps up one can guess how its going to be reported soon.
