The Colonel sees Kaligan head off in the direction of Doc.

"Don't wander off," he calls. "We need you here. Think of the dwarves. There'll be time for sightseeing later."

The COlonel stays with the group, offering reassuring affirmations to the rescued dwarves. "We'll get you out of here. A short while longer. Stay calm. Stay together."

The Northman nodded in agreement with the Colonel as he followed behind the cluster of dwarves and their steinjotenen escort. Staying with the party was the wise option and Kahru was keen to get out of these corridors crawling with bugbears, orges and orcs and back to the pillar room and eventually the surface. Though he was well aware that there was still the Keeper of the Cells and the ildjotunen to deal with, and certainly Waythe was increasingly eager for action.
is it true that fire giants have hair of flame?” he mused, reflecting on a tale he had been told as a child, as even in the northlands Giants of Fire and Ice were the stuff of legend.

As he passed a side corridor he saw an orc and lowering his voice the zealot addressed the slave “tell your fellows that the giant king Nosra is dead, it is time to claim your freedom”…

Doc moseyed down the corridor, compelled by the writhing figures on the wall and the insistent howling of the spirits within him ... and the lack of spirits in his flask. He noticed Kaligan pulling up beside him as he entered into what appeared to be some type of strange church, but Doc reckoned it wasn't stranger than anything else he had been subjected to here.

Doc turned to Kaligan and with his slight rictus grin present said, Figure we might as well see what's up by that altar.

With that, Doc pull the brim of his hat down a bit, and advances slowly, eyes constantly scanning for anything untoward.

OOC:
Doc advances toward the altar.

Duvrael is overjoyed, although he does not show such emotions, because in spite of everything he knows about hill giants, there actually seems to be something of interest to be found here. Matters of an occult nature, even, or so it seems, and the wizard hardly notices Doc slipping away until the others do.

Mentally directing his familiar Hiss to move, unseen, through the tunnels here, the yuan ti diviner himself sets off behing Doc and Kaligan.

Legend
While the others gathered the dwarves and prepared to set forth for the Forge (perhaps lingering for a moment to see if their companions would return to join them), Doc and Kaligan were joined by Duvrael in the strange Temple.

The far end of the dark temple came into view first for Doc's pale eyes. An altar made of yellowish marble, and behind it an arched, concave wall that was tiled in large, purplish slabs of glass-slate that reflected light in an eerie, twisting way.

OOC: Let's get this group done so we can move to the Forge. Does anyone touch anything? (It's perfectly safe, naturally!) Also, I assume that someone, @Maxperson Kaigan (probably) is holding a light-source?

Legend
Kaligan hadn't considered light sources to any deep degree. While the dwarves, orcs, and stone giants did not need light to work, it was still more efficient to work with it than without. The supports in the excavation site had lit torches, and Kaligan had taken one from its hook when he followed Doc into the unknown.

He waved it around as he approached the altar, revealing the odd, waxy, yellow surface and the light reflected strangely off the purplish back wall.

Duvrael moves up next to Kaligan, and studies the markings and altar. The wizard makes sure to memorize the iconography and tries to decipher any messages, hidden or otherwise.

He almost starts casting a spell to detect any magical effects. Only at the last moment, one hand already raised for the much-practised gestures, does he realize casting a new spell will end the invisibility on the star spawn outside.

With a sigh, he simply reaches out and traces a finger along the markings on the wall.

OOC: An arcana check seems to be in order: 1D20+9 = [12]+9 = 21

Not casting spells, because that would take up concentration. :(

Well, I'm touching. :p
