No, the argument is if you don't use the word "magic" somewhere..

You don't get to do anything beyond earth-standard.

Unparalleled mastery
..nope try again
Thorough knowledge of skills of combat
..pftt
Well acquainted with death, meting it out and staring it defiantly in the face
..yawn.
Superior combatant
..nahhh.
Raw physical power honed to deadly perfection
..still haven't said the magic worrrrd

I'd love for 'elan' to be the one word that does the trick, but this seems unlikely.
Elan?

Thats like having superpowers because of "gumption" or "grit" or "spunk".

Q. What is your origin story?
A. A sense of fashion.

Because of "the magic of song"..

Like it's not that far off from "fashion sense" as a narrative justification.
Re Bard.

This "song" is formulating and focusing the magical intention. It is an intention to will reality into existence. The song of creation.

That is one of the reasons why the Psionic source fits the Bard best.

Plus, some Bard subclasses dont sing, and focus their minds by other techniques.

On the point about Star Trek though. Couldn't be the answer to the whole "breaking a force effect"? You simply hit it so hard you ... reverse the polarity.
