WotC Bard is the biggest mystery in the 5.75e PHB

I think spell lists should have been split up along the actual schools of magic like Divination, Necromancy, etc, and your class grants access to these.

Honestly I cared more about the fluff of power sources then the actual spell lists.

It's no different than selecting the divine, primal, or arcane spell list and I think that this is what the should have been one of the defining aspects of the sorcerer but they hadn't really set up up the different magic types.

I suspect the Bard will keep the same spell list as in 2014, but with updates from later books, and perhaps with some daring additions to the spell list.
I hope the Bard will be able to use any power source, chosen at Level 1: the same spell list but different sources.
I view Bard magic as mainly Psionic, the artist self-expressing ones own soul. Plus the schools of Divination, Enchantment, and Illusion, plus many "Psychometabolic" shapeshifting and healing effects, suits the Psionic themes well.
In order, the following sources make sense:
• Psionic (soul)
• Primal (nature)
• Divine (ideals and symbols)
• Arcane (college, lore, study)
I think it is fine − and fun − to the let the player choose.
